  1. There’s always bowling………..
  2. I concur, the last cast is a suggestion to promote an end to the days fishing. If it’s unproductive in twenty to thirty minutes, I will typically start moving towards the take out. But then again when there there’s always a few more last cast just in case the new area has something to offer, but that could last another hour! The last cast is truly only that when the rods are put away.
  3. Could be his mugshot!
  4. Perfect example of trolling planer boards for striper. “S” curve directions let the baits rise and fall, changing speed and direction imitating natural movement. Deadly tactics!
  5. Spent many, many a night trolling spinnerblades for smallies, quite successfully. Don’t go out at night by my self anymore but still troll some blades moving from area to area in my canoe.
  6. Not in Louisville but your close enough to GRBY events.
  7. I have caught fish about everywhere I have fished; SouthCarolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Florida, Arkansas, Missouri and Canada, some areas with more success than others. I’m a Midwest fisherman, shallow(ish) lakes with plenty of cover, junk fishing. Those are the features I look for when fishing other unfamiliar locations which helps being successful. Fishing what you know. Big deep reservoirs are my nemesis and I rarely do well,,,except for last light, night fishing and then success is still limited. Table Rock was really hard and Canada was brutal because I hate catching pike 😵‍💫
  8. I wonder why not one lake in Indiana? oh never mind…………
  9. Team @Susky River Rat here. I skunk more days than not, but I don’t care. I like the experience, the trappings and the do-dads!
  10. I would agree the locked down drag was the culprit.
  11. Reading through all the responses I never saw it asked “where did the line break” My experience, a lot of line at cast distance usually the knot. Mid cast distance usually a nick or fray in the line at that point. At the reel typically a locked down drag. Not always the case in every situation but common atypical scenarios.
  12. Awesome stuff, glad we could help! Get out there and have fun!
  13. Here in Indiana it’s been tough. The lakes I fish are up 10 to 12 feet and muddy with water temps in the high 80’s as well. A disastrous combination.
  14. A little coincidence, stoped by my Neice and Nephews place https://www.facebook.com/100064007622881/posts/pfbid02Gm2FkUPQuqBkw7Pcz9tFmzKLecZTwCbr9KYVgkvgEK8eLDiDnCCmrqLXjhuxumQgl/?
  15. I fish, size is irrelevant. It’s either a skunk or catch.
  16. My brother-in-law would always say “turtles gotta eat too” life cycle
  17. I have both, a pair for colder weather and thin sun protectors. Bonus factor is palm protection from getting “finned” and better grip with the slimer’s (pike, gar etc.)
  18. Vanford 3000. The smoothness is otherworldly!
  19. I use straight braid (30#) on moving baits/lures, braid (30#) with fluro (8-12#) leader on dragging baits/lures. Spinning is always braid (15#) with fluro (6-10#) leader Biggest decision on strength is your target species. As you noted, two to six pound average fish doesn’t require mega lines. Personally I have never found the need for any braid over 30# and 20# co-poly line. A properly set drag is your friend and of larger consequence. I have caught, as many others have, two to four pound bass on 6# line on ultralight gear.
  20. Solid choices! I’m sure they’ll serve you well. Fish Hard!
  21. I want to see a video on hot summer with high water, real high water. Those conditions are kick’n my butt!
  22. The biggest bass we get here in the winter is from Kroger!
  23. I never change what’s working. That being said if it’s not working quickly I move on to another presentation until I land on one that does, then work it until it doesn’t.
  24. Agreed, a 7:1 would be a much more versatile reel ratio. You can speed up or slow down your retrieve to accommodate different lures. At 8+ you’re eliminating the “slow roll” opportunities; spinnerbait, crankbaits etc…… 6:0 spinning would be an excellent choice. This may help as general guidelines. You may note the 7:1 is the most listed option for most applications
