  1. I’m the same, mostly all Curados, a couple Lew’s and a Diawa spinner. I purchased the first gen Kistler Chromium reel a couple years ago at like $99. Definitely a great deal and a pretty nice reel. I recently switched it to 30# Segaur Smackdown for my swim jig rod (a Kistler KLX #4) and impressed with the easy distance and accuracy. Don’t know the difference between the first gen and the present incarnation. I really feel Kistler is good value for the money and pleased with my purchases.
  2. I went from 8” to 12” steel rims and Kenda tires. Made a huge difference!
  3. Gamakatsu with the exception of Trokar for jigs.
  4. A Crank Bait should work well but I’d also suggest a Carolina Rig as well. Find steep banks, long points or flats adjacent to the main creek channel where fish use the creek depth as highways, giving them access to shallow water and a quick retreat to deeper water. A lot of good information here. Summer heat is tough everywhere so hang tough. Welcome to the site!!
  5. Get the ne,,,,,,,,nevermind.
  6. Don’t know, depends on the model production dates I guess.
  7. Worth the wait! I’m hoping these rods are too.
  8. I got the email but I’m almost five months in on my last order of three rods. I inquired last week and they replied “since you used the promotion it stated up to four month wait” but yours should be ready to ship in the next four or five weeks! That’d be six months. My patients is starting to wear thin.
  9. I can only hope. The real pain is I have two new Curado MGL HG 150’s and one Vandord 3000 with three spools of Smackdown sitting on the shelf waiting on the rods. That’s what really hurts!
  10. That’s nothing, I’ve been waiting 4 months now on three Gary Loomis rods! Latest update said “should” be shipped in the next 4 to 5 weeks!
  11. For these reasons alone I prefer a zippered kayak type vest.
  12. Very similar to @gim. Closest water is at least 20 minutes away, the river and a lake is an hour or better endeavor. Micro fishing is only done if I happen by a public water, which is usually when I’m on the way to the lake! I miss living in South Carolina!
  13. Put it a closet in the house standing up. Done
  14. I rebuilt my trailer and replaced all the hardware with grade 8 bolts and nylock nuts like @DaubsNU1 Never worry about issues again.
  15. Wish I could chime in but,,,,took just about the last month off. Lakes are 10-12 foot high, ramps closed and fishing picnic tables and shelters just don’t cut it. River is near flood stage, fast and muddy so that’s been a no go as well. However today the heat and humidity has gone away, no rain in the forecast so looking to get out soon. My take on the challenge is one lure for at least three hours, if successful then it’s game on. If a skunk I’ll finish the day with another choice,,,,,,maybe. My trip is an hour/hour and a half drive one way so I typically try to get in 6/8 hours fishing to make it worth the effort. I will bet that at least you’ve gained some confidence in the jig and will give it a chance in your regular rotation.
  16. Best DIY is @Dogface solution or @Bird is the answer. U-Haul will wire in a flat plug very inexpensively, which would be the ideal fix.
  17. Most precious piece of equipment on a boat,,,pfd. Happy it turned out ok.
  18. Just the now normal here! Water temps are in the high 80’s low 90’s too
  19. Yeah, I’ve been out a couple of times unsuccessfully so I’m waiting it out. This week is low 90’s with heat index near 110, pop up thunderstorms and the lighting is the real threat. ahhhh, summertime!
  20. I’ve been off for almost the last month. Lakes are 12-15 foot over pool and the rivers at near flood stage, fast and dirty. Pounding rain everyday and high 80’s\ 90’s with 70-80% humidity tends to keep one inside. Tournaments are even being canceled due to ramps and parking lots underwater with E-coli outbreaks at the reservoirs due to flooding waste treatment plants. It’s been a terrible summer for fishing, but bank fishing is great if you want to have a go at picnic tables and playgrounds.
