Displaying my memories
Very nice display. I wish I could do something like that but all my lures were left in a tree, hung on a log or stuck to a root! Although my brother does still carry the “reminder” of a misplaced treble hook.

added a Minn Kota Terrova to my Bonafide PWR - photos of my kayak
Can you use a length of braid (50/60lb) tied to the hitch pin? Once you pull it you can tuck it under a bracket possibly.

Siebert Outdoors Jig Advice Needed: What Should I Build for 2026
I like the Dock Rocker really well but my favorite is his Swim jigs in 3/8 oz. With a Rage bug trailer they just flat out work, over, under around and in the grass. For “general” use I prefer the 3/8 and deeper the half ounce. “Deeper” is relative because my “deep” water is 18-26 feet. If I were building my own the Grid Iron Arky would be the way to go. It’s a great do everything jig and the silicone skirts are the bomb!

What high end item is worth the extra cost?
I just picked up a spool of the Advance. What size are you using? edit: and for what presentation?

What high end item is worth the extra cost?
Ha, never surrender your position. Battle scars are earned, some more than others.

What high end item is worth the extra cost?
I drive a 4x4 and travel many a bumpy road, but that is no reason to not protect the items for the reason I am on those roads.

What high end item is worth the extra cost?
I too use covers on all my reels and rod sleeves on all my rods. My Curado reels are 35 years old and could pass for near new, as well as my GLoomis rods. I never worry about cost,,,,it’s the return quality in use that is my objective. I was always taught if it’s worth having, work [save) for the best you can get then protect that investment while you enjoy it. Still using 30+ years old combos has met this personal philosophy. I have recently invested in new Edge Rods (Gary Loomis) and Curado MGL reels as new technology is real. If I could only have one setup my GLoomis M/f 6’6” 782 MBR rod and Curado cu200 reel is still my all time favorite combo.

Losing bass in kayak
I think all the response’s collectively is your answer. Pulling the kayak towards the fish Weak hookset due to rod angle not creating enough leverage Soft hookset due to line stretch Poor angle on hookset not sinking the hook All together adding up to lost fish. Double hookset and anchoring when possible is the best solutions. Watch the trailer on chatter baits are not too big and “smothering “ the hook, making it harder for the hook to penetrate easily.

Shaky Head extra spring
I’d say it’s a replacement that would attach to the hook eye in the event the embedded one breaks, such as a belly weighted hook does. Welcome to the site!

Weird rod advice for a bass fisherman...
Tom would a “heavy” crappie rod suffice?

Slightly Bent Blanks?
I’m not a rod builder but have, like most spent a lot of money on them! I’ve always heard that all blanks have a “backbone” and the guide placement is oriented to optimize performance with this in mind. Mr. Loomis along with Trey Kistler promotes this method of optimization in their builds. I feel other production brands are not “optimized” which results in a randomness. A slight up or downwards bend I could possibly live with but a left or right is way outside my ocd.

Anyone compare actual line capacity to what's stated on the box?
Soooooo, you think the numbers are close!

When's the best time to buy?
Now is the time. New models coming out, winter coming on, end of season deals are now and you’re not getting any younger by the minute. If you want it, can find it and can afford it, don’t hesitate to get it.

Line Snippers?
Got my Pitbull’s and they are as advertised.

Anyone compare actual line capacity to what's stated on the box?
I’ve tried the “filler” route but can’t ever get it right so I bite the bullet and fill the reel full from the spool. Use the remainder, if fluorocarbon for leader. Most all my reels are braid or braid to leader so no actual loss. I do get two fills on BFS reels but disappointingly they can get spooled quickly. On the river I can out-cast line capacity with 10# Power Pro easily on my three Curado SLX’s throwing a quarter ounce. I have to remind myself to quietly get a closer approach cast!

Tackle prices up or down or same

Post a photo a day!
Got to the lake this morning and found this backed down the ramp went in to the top of the truck tires and was still a foot above the water line! My 12” trailer tires were still out of the water. Said heck with it and pulled out… Instead went to the car wash then home! Should’ve went to the river first!
