^^^^totally agree.

A Rigs
Does look interesting but don’t see only one hook and two dummies being any more successful than just a swimbait alone. Fish bites either outside bait without a hook then they’re probably done and move on.

His spinnerbaits are a work of art! I prefer the 1/4 - 3/8 oz myself and they run true, provide plenty of flash and easy to fish fast or slow with thump. The skirt combinations are extensive and the head color’s are meticulous. Buy with confidence.

2019 finesse minnow soft plastics
So all along in my youth , say 60+ years ago, fishing a worm with split shots at the end of the line with the hook 14/16” up was a drop shot invented by a Japanese guy! My grandfather would be disappointed in knowing this.

Camp Out or Run-and-Gun?
I typically fish larger impoundments (1000 to 12,000 acres) in a trolling motored canoe with a basic 4” depthfinder. I fish small in bigger water, I’m a slow moving train! Marking fish or baitfish is first priority but I don’t just roam until that happens, starting first with where they “should be”. I’ll fish a bank, channel and structure moving slowly (drift speed) until I hit upon a structure, point, cove or shoreline that produces. When it happens I drop an anchor for at least thirty minutes or until I’m sure the bite is gone, then chug on. Once I can repeat the previous bite I’ll move a bit quicker to find “that” area again. Rinse and repeat.

I feel like the outlier at Bass Resource because I just don't know.
I’m definitely the outlier, because I don’t know! I was out five hours today on a 11,000 acre lake which I have only fished 4-5 times, from different launches each time. There was a constant 20mph wind with 30mph gust after a passing cold front two days ago along with high clouds and blue skies. Air temps in the high 60’s and water temp in the low 50’s. I marked fish in the suspected spots; on drops, deeper flats and in the transition points from flats to deeper water, typically between 10 to 25 foot of deep. I also fished docks and a few lay-downs but shallow water was completely void of activity. I threw the gambit of lures; underspin, spinnerblade, jig, dropshot, texas rigged creature bait, deep and medium crankbaits, swimbait along with an umbrella rig, changing colors a couple of times on several. Using a wind blown drift was trying so anchoring was the theme of the day. Nada, zip, zero………….. ^^^ this is what I want to learn! How do you find fish when you can’t find baitfish, birds or noticeable sonar returns. Calling back Glen’s video on downsizing/upsizing and identifying a pattern when nothing is working but you can’t get the first bite is madding. I know there are a lot of variables against me in this situation but ……frustration level is on overload not being able breakdown enough factors to catch one single fish is exacerbating!

Interesting knot I found.
Really? The double Pitzen (aka Jimmy Huston knot) is all I use for braid, Palomar for mono/fluro.
-
Braid color?
I used the original white Spyderwire for many, many years without issue. I now use Smackdown in stealth grey which has turned more light grey(ish) and has not made any noticeable difference.

American Legacy Fishing
I’ve bought several GLoomis rods at extremely good deals. Hate to see such a great service end. Truly “your dream is not mine” holds true for many a family business.

Sadness begins ☹️ you still have the canoe available right? So not all is lost.- “Bait Box”
But it’s still legal……..and he’s in Mississippi.- Kayakers - How Much Tackle?
I’ve pared down to a Plano Guide Series 3500 bag and two Arsenal zippered plastic worm bags. The Guide bag holds three single 3500 size boxes and one double sided 3500. I stack two small pocket sized double sided terminal boxes on top of them. Side pockets are three small spools of leader line, pliers, tape and essential repair stuff. Front pocket is first aid and personal items (keys, wallet). Inside one box is jigs, one crank’s, one top water and a double sided with spinnerblades and chatterbaits. Three of the boxes had dividers but I cut them out to make a flat open carry box which makes more room. The Arsenal bags are clear so I can see what’s inside easily. One carries solely worms and the other any swimming, paddle, trailer or craw plastics. When possible since most plastics are compatible I mix different sizes and colors into one bag in order to carry an assortment. I see no need to carry a 10 bag of several different colors and sizes each just to use two or three during the day. I carry six rigs, two spinning and four casting set ups but usually only take four (three and one) unless tournament fishing. And it all fits in my Decked Drawer system in the truck bed. Admittedly, I do have to shuffle contents now and then for different lakes but nothing major. I have my gear narrowed down to what and where I fish trying to be efficient.- “Bait Box”
For personal use they are legal in Mississippi, as well as most other states. For commercial use they must be licensed.- “Bait Box”
Thats a bait trap, similar to what we have used to catch small baitfish for crappie, pike, walleye and/or cat fishing, depending on what your target species is. It’s a nicely made small trap so I’d just leave it be. His type of fishing is different than your’s but it doesn’t make it wrong. Seems he is catching his bait is instead of buying it and it’s not interfering with the kids crappie/bluegill fishing. As you said, to each their own.- Took Murphy Fishing Again!
Agree with @DogBone_384, a resettable fuse would have saved the meltdown, and the trip back to the ramp. Circuit Breaker/Inline Fuse When rigging your trolling motor, we recommend using a circuit breaker or an inline fuse connected to the positive battery terminal as close as possible to the battery / batteries Circuit Breaker Example Minn Kota MKR-27 Circuit Breaker- Post a photo a day!
