  1. Soak them in C (calcium) L (lime) R (rust) then a light brush with a soft scotchbrite pad. Rinse well and dry. As the name implies CLR dissolves rust.
  2. Get'n my “on deck” lure box ready to hit the water.
  3. Really! Totally unaware of this!
  4. I use the bag solution sometimes but don’t store anything long term (couple weeks or more) especially paddle tails. The bag compresses the tail and long enough storage deforms the completely. My “on deck” box, a double sided Plano box is what I use for an outing for lures that I will cycle through during the day. So, it brings me to my original question of how long can I store plastics together (pre-rigged) before it affects the plastic? And are there brands that don’t play well together (other than Z-man brand)?
  5. Nice solution but my storage considerations are much too small to accommodate individual containers. I like it though! Yeah I have rigged lures but haven’t stored several at one time in one container, as I’m doing now with my “next up” box. I don’t typically put them away wet and saltwater isn’t an issue for me, but I get it. I can see wet heavy salt plastics causing an problem on stored hooks.
  6. I have a Boomerang snip attached to my pfd. The best thing I find about them is the convenience attached to the retractable leash, always at hand and never looking for them. I do find them a tad small (in my hands) and will only cut braid cleanly at the tips. Cuts nylon/fluro/mono just fine but braid only snips clean if cut on the end of the blades. Thereby creating another problem, accidentally catching the main line or knot at the same time! Maybe mine might be a bit worn and didn’t notice the cut decline until it became obvious, leaving frayed ends on braid. All in all they are a handy set of decent snips which I wouldn’t hesitate to buy again but since I mainly use braid I prefer something a bit bigger in hand and a clean cut every time.
  7. I pulled out a bottle of Oaty PVC medium set pipe glue last night and mended together the mouth end of a Yamamoto Zako paddle tail where I had split it open with a swim jig. Welded it back together using a dab on a toothpick with no problem and was able to put it on a twist lock belly weighted hook without issue. Thanks for the heads-up on the PVC glue!
  8. Let me ask a trailer question to the collective; how soon do you pre-rig your plastic trailers (?), when you’re at the water or a week/day or hours ahead of time? Most plastic are impregnated with some sort of attractant/salt so has rigging lures a week or days ahead of time been an issue? I usually pre-rig my swimbaits, spinnerblades and under-spins and store in a “up next on deck box”. Typically I rig up my lures ahead of time and may not fish for a week but not sure if this a deterrent or perfectly acceptable. I do make sure not to cross contaminate different brands (Elastech with Power baits or Yamamoto etc.) to eliminate the brands from breaking down each other. Anyone have issues with adding trailers and letting them sit? Any specific brands that can create issues other than elastech?

  10. What trailer you using on the Dredge?

  12. Fall, bass chasing shad I use a Texas-rigged 4” white ( or translucent with black pepper flake). My other choice is coffee color or green pumpkin. Pretty much the extent of my tube selections that I carry. The white is a killer imitation that can be swam, dragged or yo-yo’d. I seldom use jig heads (only Stupid Tube) but take Bill’s Lowen’s method on Tube fishing.
  13. Night fishing a large single Colorado thumper (usually black) is my go to and has never failed to deliver.
  14. I fish Siebert Outdoors jigs exclusively. Not only being a member sponsor here his jigs are outstanding quality and components. The selection is astounding with choice of heads, hooks, weights and skirts is virtually any color combination. His spinner blades are exceptional also My favorites; swim jig DockRocker and the Shot caller. A lot of great information and insight Here about jig fishing. Welcome to the site!
  15. Exactly why I like the Pitbull brand @A-Jay posted. They have a specific notch at the bottom of the blades for cutting mono/fluro lines, keeping the tips sharp for braid. Hopefully 😉
  16. I’ve used braid for over thirty years and have went through most every brand of “braid scissors”. Eventually, they have all failed. In that same time I have used Fiskars in my professional work and they have never failed me in strength, sharpness and comfort. I use the non stick titanium #5 for line cutting. For $10 at Walmart they are a good deal and very, very sharp and will snip braid cleanly with ease (not to mention any fluro or mono). The sizing is the same as typical Rapala, Culprit etc. brands. And a lifetime warranty! I am intrigued by the Pitbull brand @A-Jay linked. edit: okay, so the reviews convinced me. I bought the Pitbull cutters! Thanks @A-Jay
  17. Oh I see, Shimano reels are now “inferior”! poke, poke…….
  18. I have a few new MGL 151’s and totally happy with them. But,,,,,,,if I could acquire the Met at the same (or near the same) price I’d jump on the reel.
  19. Texas rig them with a 3/0 or 4/0 hook.
  20. #16 Shooter on my jig rod. As big as I go,,,,,unless it’s braid.
  21. Indiana is three hooks (jerk bait, umbrella rig etc.) considered one lure/bait. Or three lines at one time (three single line poles with one hook each) typical bobber fishing or trolling rigs.
  22. Ahhhhhh, retirement!
  23. I had a 16 Rebel tiller (similar boat) and sold it after one season. Very tippy and rocky. Not scary but definitely nervous standing to cast. Nice little boat, plenty of room and decent storage but if I can’t stand at least part of the time, it’s no bueno. edit: I will say the Wife Did Not like the tippyness of the boat and didn’t like going out on it. In fairness probably a stronger reason for selling than my own safety!
