  1. Nice job, but the old saying “don’t leave fish to find fish” is amplified in winter. Nice work and effort!
  2. Throw a worm. Get a new pack of any color or size and wacky, split shot, Carolina or Texas rig it on sunny, rainy, cloudy, hot, warm or cold day. Catch fish! Old (proven) is always new.
  3. Three years later I don’t think he’s still fishing that spot! Plus he hasn’t been on the site since August of ‘23. Great reply though 👍🏼
  4. On casting gear I use a moss green and spinning typically chartreuse green or yellow. However I have started using Smackdown in Stealth grey on casting gear which has faded to a light whitish grey. When the original Spyderwire came out I used it for everything for years, in white the only color it was made in.
  5. Anything moving (spinnerblade, crankbait, plopper etc.) is straight braid. Dragging baits is braid to leader with a uni to uni knot. With micro guide rods I, like @bulldog1935 use a shorter leader so the knot is not in the guides and a longer leader on full size guides, but not long enough to go into the reel.
  6. I use both a 3000 Vanford (15# braid w/ 10# leader) on a 7’ M/f Edge rod and a 2500 Vanford (10# braid w/6# leader) on a 6’6” ML/f IMX G Loomis rod. The 3000 gets the bulk of the 5” and up dropshot/wacky/underspin work while the 2500 gets the wacky/dropshot/shakeyhead but in finesse sizes. Depending on what water and where I fish determines which one is in my hand at any given time.
  7. Straight 30# PowerPro braid. Covers all depths, strong knots.
  8. I would compare it to boats listed in your area that are “for sale” to get an idea of comparative pricing. Boats are always subjective to what it worth to you, but prices vary widely depending on condition, equipment and accessories.
  9. @Smirak for a guy who swore off buying more tackle a few months ago you sure have went all in! A week into the new year and your already pushing the monkey down the road. Repent ye heathen !!! And NO, nothing new for me. 😆😆
  10. Great Job! Took me a minute to figure out how to change from dark to light mode but the new lay out is very nice and easy to navigate. Well done 👍🏼
  11. Still in use….
  12. Go IU! I will as well @jitterbug127

Nice! @bishoptf I see no reason not to cut the old hooks off and use split rings with new hooks. With the added length of the split rings might use a lighter hook to keep a similar weight. But then again a #4 hook would be appropriate and probably not matter.
  17. Thanks for posting. Tom went by “Old school” on another fishing forum (not knowing if posting is appropriate) and there are a lot of his stories and articles from years ago still searchable. These are lessons told in story form leaving a trail of methods, techniques and mentality which is valuable fishing knowledge. Thanks again…..
  18. Heddon PopR, buzz bait and the Scramble in bone. Threw the wopper-plopper and couldn’t get a sniff. Switched to a 6th Sense Scramble and caught fish first cast!
  19. Sent a PM on downloading . Thank you
  20. After carotid artery surgery and a quadruple bypass I’ve passed the 70 mark now and have the energy, will and passion to forge headlong into each and every season. Excess's is a good thing, as long as you do it in moderation. A remembrance of @Catt and the recent loss of @WRB-2.0 is a stark reminder of our mortality.
  21. I am deeply saddened by Toms passing. I was searching FleaMarket looking for his post on the St.Croix rods he had for sale recently and was about to message him and ran across this thread. I’ve had several messages with him, as many have had and received several of his articles gleaning knowledge from his enormous body of work. This is a gut shot that is totally unexpected. May his family find peace and comfort in the coming days and his legendary legacy will continue through his passionate writings. RIP Tom from here…. “This bass is actually my second biggest bass; 18 lbs 11 oz., caught at Lake Casitas, February 9th 1981, pre-spawn on a my BBP hair jig. The bass was in about 17 feet of water on a major point. The bass was 28 1/2" long with 28" girth.”. Tom
  22. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!
  23. Most all of mine are 3/8 or 1/4 so I use a flat box with no dividers.
  24. I call that Selective Amnesia, and my Wife has it quite often.
