Hank Parker's Controversial Take on FFF!!
I feel the whole conversation for me is cost. It’s expensive. Younger folks can’t afford it, or their families, or their school or their club. Does that make them less of an angler even with tangible targeting skill? I don’t believe so. But it does put them at a disadvantage to lesser skilled anglers whom know how to use FFS and can afford it. I think it’s leading to, like many other sports, those with “means” will excel and those with less financial opportunity will,,,,,,work at the marina. Has nothing to do with ability. It’s become an honest cheat.

Yes another question about a rod
I switched to This line in 12# with 8# floro leader and have been really pleased throwing tiny neds, weightless creature baits and hair jigs on a 7’1” Phenix Feather MLF rod with a 500 reel. Could go to 8# but would never use it on a 3000 reel as it’s getting towards throwing thread.

Hank Parker's Controversial Take on FFF!!
My Nephew is a Pro fisherman and multiline bass boat dealer. He has a $100,000 custom Phoenix boat with $40,000 worth of electronics on it (to Hank Parker’s point). Huge big screens, dual FFS, DI/SI, auto GPS waypoint plotting and every type of fish finding equipment you can get for both he and his co angler. Didn't make the cut in a tournament in Florida this past weekend. Before you say he’s a bad fisherman, he IS a sponsored Professional and has been for near twenty years. He can flatout fish! His Wife made the point that maybe he should go back to spending a little more time on FISHING and not watching expensive tv’s 😃 Skill counts I agree

Hank Parker's Controversial Take on FFF!!
Watching the Bassmaster’s today I was thoroughly disappointed by the side by side split screen showing Justin Hamner’s FFS screen while he was watching it. It’s a blob of squiggles pulsing in color that means zero to me, but he understands it. But why would I watch a guy watch tv while watching his tv on a split screen showing him watching tv. If it’s allowed, then fine but don’t expect folks to tune in to see this boring trype. It suked……never did see him catch a fish under a dock but saw a lot of glowing tv color.

The latest sale thread
I don’t have this particular jacket/bibs but all my Frogg Togg gear has been totally waterproof and good quality. No complaints. This does look like a good deal.

Do you switch hands when you cast a baitcaster?
Now that’s just bass’akwards! 😂

Do you switch hands when you cast a baitcaster?
Everything left hand retrieve . Since mid 80’s. I’m right handed and never saw the reasoning to throw right handed and then switch to reel right, just never made sense. A wasted move to me.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I gotta stay away from TW! My last three purchases they didn’t include the free sticker, which were all over the $50 limit. I added them to my cart but they didn’t show up. No biggie, I have three in a drawer already. 😀 That place is a deep pit!

Your career paths
Interesting stuff in this thread! Parents divorced when I was young and I spent my early life on the streets. Quit school at 16 and joined the Army at 17, was released on a medical discharge and went back to the streets, hitchhiking from coast to coast, in and out of trouble and aimless. Finally managed to work my way into college (Ball State) where at 23 I met the Love of My Life, best friend and the woman who saved my life, she was 18 and now married 47 years. I went to work for an underground utilities company, deciding that becoming a teacher wasn’t for me and worked my way to District Manager of several operations in three States in short order with my Wife working along my side as Office Manager. We got tired of the constant moving at contracts end, quit and moved to California where I started a paint and wallpaper business and she took a office job at Walmart as a business manager. After a few years we grew tired of the left coast and longed for the change of seasons and moved to Tennessee where I continued working for myself and she as an Office Manager for a well known truck equipment company. Ironically the company opened an operation in Indiana, where we are from, and offered her the Operations Manager position so we moved back home. After twenty years the equipment company was sold and she found a new career as the Sales Manager at a Harley-Davidson dealership, where after twenty plus years she is the store business manager and runs things for a absentee owner. All the while I continued to work for myself and built a small six man operation providing paint and mostly commercial wallpaper installation for commercial operations; hotels, motels, nursing homes and office parks. In 2020 I suddenly underwent quadruple bypass (CABG 4) and after 35 years of self employment retired from working. The Wife continues to work today at the HD Dealership, for how long we don’t know. Just this week she was diagnosed with Cancer. To sit here and put near 70 years of life history in a few paragraphs seems trivial but it’s been a life well lived and a great ride. We have tried to live with no fear or regrets and can only go boldly into our future smiling. Would we change anything? Only the time we have with the ones we love.

I downsized my tackle box and happy with the results
Thank you, we see the Gynecologist Oncologist Monday morning for verification and a PET scan Thursday. That’s how new this is to us! Anyway, yeah always have to take the new rig out to test and the spinnerbait and worm are the fish catch’n est baits I know of. 😀 Good luck!

Tackle Storage Options
I went to a Plano Guide soft box and very happy with it. Pick your size and compact and portable.
-
Your Go-To Lure
Absolutely knowing I had to have a catch, Berkley 6” power worm on a 1/16-1/8 oz belly weighted EWG hook. or 3/8 spinnerbait
-
Lipless crankbait hook question
Shouldn’t be an issue and probably an improvement when throwing in grass and weeds.

I downsized my tackle box and happy with the results
@new2BC4bass my sincere condolences for the loss of your Wife. My Wife of 48 years just this Monday has been diagnosed with Cancer and the anxiety is overwhelming. I too agree that less is more as I recently went through a gear cull, smaller tackle box and fewer rods are easier to manage. Wishing you the best. Get out and fish

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
The idea of this thread is Tackle which technically includes rods and reels but was seen as turning into a ROD dominant topic, which has its own thread, specifically for rods,,,,,,,,,,,,and reels,,,,,,,,,,,but not tackle 😖 I think we’re splitting hairs………………. oh, bought this
- Football style tackle

Non-ethanol gas price WAY higher
Nothing like a good ‘ol oil thread

Kayak for the New River?
Welcome to the site! You have to consider “power” too. You want to paddle, pedal or power with a motor? I much prefer a canoe for the river and the Old Town AutoPilot 120 kayak for the lakes. I know nothing of the New River but a canoe carries more weight (camping gear, dog another angler) and is more confidence inspiring on moving water than my kayak. A canoe can be had for way under 1k and is lighter, easier to transport with greater capacity.…..just a thought.

Pending Indiana state record smallie.
Guess I’m gonna have to spend a little bit more time there, although I do prefer Potaka.
