………my SINGLE favorite bass fishing technique……… WORM. Weighted, weightless, swimming or rigged any other way, it’s the worm.

tomorrow i am going to try the Free-Rig.
Hummmmmmm, seems rock would catch the weight in the cracks and crevices when dragged along. Maybe a pea gravel type bottom it would work well enough but not too sure about chunk.

My Soft Plastics Arsenal (Any Holes You Think I Should Fill?)
I quit when I found myself buying the same plastic in the same size and color! I gave away four full paper grocery bags of plastics but that didn’t stop me from buying more. It’s all good if you enjoy it. Monkey see, monkey buy!

Lure for when the bite is tough
I like his “has been around a few years” statement. Yeah l’ve fish them more than 40 years! Actually called spinbaits, same thing different generations terminology. Everything old is always new again. But they still work https://www.bassmaster.com/news/the-first-spybait/

Whopper Plopper @ Night
It is either a black spinnerblade or black buzzbait at night. Never tried the WP but black does sound like a good solution.

10 Must Have Lures
Since I’ve moved to a kayak I have downsized both rods and tackle and seeing your suggestions has give me confidence that I have the right baits to cover all scenarios. Although I carry four rods my baits are right on par with your selections. And the six inch worm has definitely carried the load this spring! Thanks

Rod Sensitivity - old vs new
I have several 2000ish year GLoomis rods that I still fish today. Tried the “new” (Shimano) Loomis rods and just didn’t like the feel when I was looking for a do all rod. I looked at the Gary Loomis signature rods, and even tried to order an Edge rod over the phone. What I found was astonishing! Near less than 1 out of 5 stars, questionable quality reviews and customer service being a O! They never responded to emails or would not answer the phone, or return a voice message . Let alone trying to return or get service for any issue that may arise, I moved on. American Made with superior quality and unquestionable customer service look at KISTLER

“Clean up” bait
That’s my point exactly. If I know I have a biter that I want to catch while throwing a fluke, a wacky senko or lightly weighted worm makes sense. But that is my definition of a “follow-up” . As I said , just trying to determine the definition between “clean-up” and “follow-up”. In my mind I read it as one being used in place of the other, both meaning the same thing. Additionally my problem was trying to understand someone fishing top water then going to a ned after missing a few strikes. Two completely different depths, water columns and conditions . Ideally one would want to throw a similar method in a different bait/color/size if missing short strikers or seeing chasers. I don’t consider it junk fishing by staying with a similar presentation but changing color, size and even bait (wacky worm to creature bait). Now if throwing everything in the tackle box from top to bottom without considering patterns is junk fishing! Unless that’s a pattern ? It is interesting to think about while off the water. Good topic and conversations.

New Sticky with Updated "Best Beginning/intermediate" advice?
Borrow, or buy cheaply, a push button spin caster outfit. Use it until your comfortable and proficient. It will teach you proper casting techniques and make the transition to bait casters much easier.

“Clean up” bait
I guess I’m lost in the description of “clean-up” bait. To me it’s a follow up to another bait that has been hit short or consistently missed (top water plug) to try and entice a positive strike (jerk shad, slow rolled spinner). Similar bait, similar method, different presentation. Don’t see how a bottom contact bait (ned, jig) is a clean-up for a swim jig, or anything fished in a different water column? I see a ned or jig following a weighted swimming worm but not a reaction bait. Am I missing something here?

“Clean up” bait
If catching on crankbait or spinnerbait slows my follow up is a swimjig or soft jerk shad, then a slow sinking worm, working my way towards the bottom. Or move to another area ?
