Worked again. Just bought a pack of SK tumbleweeds and a diet coke for $2.60

Im an “app/loyalty program” guy. Food delivery, shopping, etc. I’m an academy member, no credit card, just use my phone number. I needed some new split ring pliers for small rings. So, I checked my app, headed to academy and bought the small bubba brand that are $20. When I went to pay, I got 10% off for military. Then, I had a $10 off $10 coupon in my academy rewards. So, long story short, i got the pliers for like $8. I noticed I had another $10 off $10 coupon in my rewards. So, I went yesterday and bought a 20oz Diet Coke, Reese’s and a whopper plopper 60 for $5.00. I bought the DC and Reese’s and got a free WP60 essentially. Noticed this am, I have ANOTHER $10 off 10 coupon. Dang bruh…I’ll buy all your $10 stuff for free…

Just spooled up my bfs reel the other night. Varivas bait finesse x4 .5# PE (9lb equivalent) to 6lb seaguar red label (all I had handy).

The internal “ribs” seem to be a sturdier material as well. Not quite the Plano edge, but still seem sturdier than “regular/normal” ones.

I use the anchor wizard with the anchor wizard anchor. It’s a mushroom type anchor. I don’t not like it, but I don’t like it either. I am going to switch it out for the tightline k5 anchor.

My new BFS Setup came in the mail yesterday. I paired the Doviello HICC50 reel with the Handig Magic L 6’ UL, both from Amazon. My line will be delivered today, Varivas Bait Finesse X4 in 9#. I took the advice from Aaron Hunt on this setup and while not the price he was able to get it for pre-tarrif, still a decent deal at $130ish (minus line) I thought. First impressions are “I can’t wait to hook into something with this rod. Even a blade of grass outside.” This thing is a noodle and I can’t wait! The reel feels really smooth. I’m excited to give it a try. I wound up with the 8 sp and picked up the version with a second spool because it was only $4 more.

I was reading on Aaron Hunt’s website and he made an interesting point regarding the Phenix rods…if they truly are BFS rods, why do they sell a casting series and a spinning series both labeled BFS? By definition isn’t BFS casting specific anyway?

Yeah, there were 7 on the peg. I grabbed 4. All 3/8oz, but oh well..

I bought the UL because I had read that it fished more like a L whereas the L fishes more like a ML.

Well, I did just hit order on Amazon for a new reel, rod and line. So I guess the monkey had me tighter than I thought… I was watching some of Aaron Hunt’s videos and he suggested the following for a good, budget setup. I don’t have pics yet, but the bait monkey, my son and I were on a 3-way FaceTime call last night. I was in AL, my son was in Osaka. He went to Bun Bun there which is apparently the largest tackle store in Osaka. I spent a couple of dollars there via video. I pick him up from the airport on Saturday, so hopefully I’ll post pics on Sunday. I know for certain you will see a pic of some grass pieces and sakamata shads.
