  1. I’ll play this year.
  2. Technically not a purchase, but I warrantied a mojo bass and upgraded to a Victory. All in, $60. I paid $120 for the MojoB and got $180 in credit for it. I’m secretly hoping something will happen to my 7’10. The value on it is $260. I gave $120 for that as well. Had some discounts stack at Cabela’s about this time last year…
  3. Just got a new victory Marshall for the same price as a replacement mojo bass. It should ship mid-November.
  4. Approx 105 acres. It was a no go today. I kayak fish and the wind was just too much today. Also, called and asked about the water level. “It’s pretty dang low” Maybe another day.
  5. Finally got around to looking at it. The tip broke just past the next to last running guide (so the broken section has one running guide and the tip top). I’m thinking I’m going to epoxy a small bit on the end of the rod so as to not get line fray. Then, I’m gonna go fish it. At worst, I can cut it down and use it for a spoiling setup. Maybe one of the more expensive ones albeit!
  6. Yeah, I didn’t orient the map. I’m used to reading a topo map as well. I was an 11B (bullet catcher) in the Army. Thanks for all the suggestions! I’ve seen the “north” end so shallow that the water stopped at about the 10’ contour line. The ramp is on the west side just north of the “cove” which is just a dock area. My son caught a 5ish lber out of the middle cove on the right. I’ve caught top water all along the d**n. Like I said, I’ve caught fish here, but I’m really trying to get better than just going out and casting. Sorta like the “spray and pray” mantra we had as infantrymen with M60s or 240s.
  7. Thanks all. I know the dam drops off significantly to the 25/30’ area. It’s a rip rock dam, so I know it’s rocky in that area. There are a ton of laydowns all over the banks too. I’m not sure of much, if any vegetation. Just seems like a very soft bottom..
  8. I figured you’d have something cued up ready to share! thanks @Glenn
  9. May be the wrong forum, but I wasn’t sure. I’m fishing a lake on Thursday. I’ve fished here before, caught a few. Anyway, I want to start to understand and become a better fisherman regarding my electronics. I’m not sure if my reveal has this lake or not (c-map). Either way, attached is a topo map for the lake. Considering this time of year, what/where would you specifically target? I haven’t fished here this year, so considering the drought we are having in N Alabama this year, I’m not sure if those depths shown would be accurate or not…
  10. So last weekend, I snapped about 7-8” off the end of one of my St Croix rods. Filed through warranty and will be replacing it. That said, I want to still use this rod. I know if I was building a rod and wanted it shorter, I’m supposed to take off the butt end because the action might be compromised if taken from the tip end (AFAIK). But, can I just put a tip top on this rod that matches the last running guide in size? Or, is this just a junk rod now?
  11. I’ve decided to upgrade through St Croix to a victory casting rod. When you upgrade, the warranty fee drops from $60 to $30. What would you consider the “most versatile” victory casting rod? Im looking at the full contact, but I already have two H rods and don’t know if I need to throw a third in there?
  12. I really gotta get me one of those… not the reel, but the wife that takes girls’ trips!
  13. How do you have such restraint to accidentally order? All mine are purposeful! 😂😂
  14. That’s not a bad price at all. 5g packets are the perfect size for say a bowl of spaghetti. This is good info to know so I don’t have to go buy a pair of shoes just for the seasoning packet.
  15. About 3 hrs from me, but worth the drive. Plenty of other things in the area I can get into…like a few naked dogs from The Varsity… I know my orders from TW have generally (or maybe always) shipped from Alpharetta.
  16. Dang @Mike L You are old! 😀 I went fishing this week. Spent the week with my 1 yr old granddaughter (only grandchild). She didn’t go fish with me, but when Meme (my wife) called, I saw G (short for Georgia) on the phone and she recognized me. So, that’s kinda like taking her, right?
  17. Funniest of all is a new in package GLX just showed up on my Craigslist. 6’8 MXF. Don’t “need” that one…
  18. My costa lenses are progressives. I’ve had zero issues with them besides a scratch on one lens…
  19. I think Harbor Freight’s may be even cheaper?
  20. I love Paul Simon, but I really enjoy Miley Cyrus singing 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover as well as Jolene (Dolly)
  21. Stay away from SwimbaitUnderground. His granddaddy, the bait silverback hangs out there most days…
  22. What would you suggest? I just filled out the warranty form for SC.
  23. I’m spending some time with my granddaughter this weekend, so I’ll get on it first thing Monday. Appreciate the tips on the upgrade…
  24. Yeah, that’s my first option. I just haven’t contacted them yet. However, the bait monkey told me not to contact SC
  25. So yesterday I broke about the last 6” of my rod yesterday. 7’1 St Croix Mojo Bass. Looking to replace it now. Was looking at the Levante JDM series from The HookUp. Wondering if this is “the best” option for a sub $200 rod (not a custom/home built), and if so, which model would you recommend? Current stable: SCMB 7’10 HF 13 Fishing HF Dobyns Fury MHF Mach Spinning Rod MM (I believe) Home built MLF I normally fish moving baits, TR and jigs. I know I have what I need available, but I need to replace that broken rod anyway…
