  1. I own a few of each of the LFS and SLX line. For $100, I think they are a no brainer.
  2. FishUSA has Mojo Bass rod’s for $125-ish (old style handle, not trigon). Also SLX XT for $100-ish.
  3. Ok…this is exactly what I was trying to ask but couldn’t figure out how to ask!! @Bigbox99 do you rebook every time you switch rods?
  4. You need any bone marrow. I’m only 4 hrs from you. serious question.
  5. So I normally carry about 7 rods with me when I fish (SS127). I usually have 2 or 3 in my lap for different presentations. That said, I do not rebook my bait to the hook keeper or an eye or something. I just let it “dangle” off the front of my kayak. However, this always results in hooking a dangling bait with whatever I’m using at the time. Maybe this is a thing on boats as well, don’t know. What do you do kayak fisherpeople?
  6. I did eventually move on. Fished around the banks of the river a bit, got a couple smaller ones on a lipless, and then a decent 3lber on a plopper. That said, if you haven’t tried the BPS plopper, it’s worth a shot. I got the largest size and it throws well, retrieves well, and catches fish.
  7. About 2 yrs ago, my son and I went to Guntersville for a guided trip. I don’t consider myself an “experienced” angler, but I do ok. Guide was super nice, communicative, etc…ALL BEFORE WE LAUNCHED. Once we got to the first spot (and every subsequent spot) he put us on, my son and I threw rage bugs, weightless crawling the bottom. Meanwhile, the guide is on the casting deck by himself throwing a jackhammer using livescope. He caught about six at that spot. Meanwhile, my son and I are just slow rolling a rage bug on the bottom. For a half day trip, my son and I caught 2. The guide caught maybe a dozen or so. My son backlashed one of the reels pretty dang good, and the guide said “no problem. That’s just $75 worth of line.” Ok…whatever…anyway, long story coming to an end - the guide caught a really nice bass, maybe 4-5 lbs. He then asked my son to hold it up so he can take a picture for his website showing the clients what they can expect. What they can expect? You catching the fish and then trying to get your potential clients to think my son caught that on your guide? All of that said, I’d do it again in a heartbeat, but with a different guide. I’d imagine there are hundreds at Guntersville.
  8. About 2 yesterday afternoon, I was at the mouth of a creek off the TN river. Saw the biggest bait ball I’ve ever seen, literally there were millions of shad. There were a couple of small (8-12” maybe) bass lurking around and corralling them. I threw everything at the bait ball… lipless, chatter/spinner, umbrella rig, top water, jerkbait (soft as well), wacky and drop shot. I know there were fish under the ball, as I was marking them. No takers. The only thing that I can think of now looking back is that I maybe should have downsized as the shad were fairly small?
  9. Yeah, I paddled around in my kayak for about 5 hrs yesterday. Caught a couple, one nice 19”er that decided as soon as I took my hand off of him on my measuring board, he made a run (jump) for it. I was trying to get my camera turned around for a pic and he said “I’m outta here” I got on the water about 1:15, out around 6. It was brutal in N Alabama. I think the heat index was like 95/96?
  10. Is there anything at inland lake just up the road from you? We have a public lake here near Huntsville, and I fish it occasionally. It is stupid pressured though, so I don’t fish it often…
  11. You could do like I did once… There’s a POS Tercel (I think) running around Huntsville, AL with a KBF sticker on it…
  12. I wear Costas. I got them at a local eyeglass store. The only issue I had is that they didn’t include the authentic costa lens for the prescription. Ok, not a big deal, I THOUGHT. After about 6mos or so of wear, and I’m a heavy user either fishing or calling baseball games. Probably 6 hrs or more a day in the summer. Anyway, the frames were “stretched”. A few months later, the nosepad stated deteriorating. Off to the Costa warranty (which is great BTW - I’ve used it a few times over the past ~20 yrs of wearing costas). I had to take out the prescription lenses and replace with the original lens and send them back. The only place you can get authentic Costa Lenses are through Costa or LensCrafters (or at least that’s the way I understand it). All that said, I don’t wear anything but Costas. They are just the best sunglasses FOR ME.
  13. TW 20% off Strike King select lures. Landing page shows redeye shad and tour grade spinnerbaits. Didn’t click to see what else.
  14. OMG - why did you post that link. My wife just cussed me out…
  15. I don’t budget anything. Maybe that’s why me and the wife don’t talk much? Just kidding. I only have a tackle budget, but that’s just a SWAG. It usually is a moving target. I am a kayak fisherman, and I don’t travel far, so it works out pretty well. That said, if anyone wants to fish the N Alabama area (Guntersville, Wilson, Wheeler, Pickwick) and wants someone to buy some gas, hit me up. Im always up to help put gas in someone’s boat for a day of fishing and new friend making! I’m always telling my son “hey that guy has a boat. I wonder if he wants a friend?”
  16. So I need someone that is like the master of a Lowrance hook unit. You know sometimes if you look at guided fishing trips, they have a “learn your electronics” package. That’s what I need. I need “ok dummy - turn it on” as a basic starting point. DM me please if you fit this bill.
  17. Haha - thanks for the clarification! I figured that so…
  18. Color doesn’t matter to me. But, according to my wife, all I do is collect them anyway! The bait monkey and my wife aren’t on talking terms currently. So, I might as well know the color.
  19. Back in stock if still interested. I don’t throw a left handed reel, but for $98, I might try to adapt. I don’t have any Abu stuff, just Shimano and Daiwa.
  20. I wanna be A-Jays friend… What is that color BTW?
  21. So, was out yesterday throwing an RK55. I tied it on (brand new out of the package) and tossed it a couple times to get everything dialed in (8’ out from the bank or so). Then, I go to actually cast it. I sling it out there like I have done 100s of times. Well, for whatever reason, the bait went much further than my line. I’ve thrown off lures before, so aside from a couple of cuss words, I just reeled in so I could retie. When I got it back in, I realized that the lure completely flew off the keeper that is molded in that holds the split ring. Talked to SPRO this morning. They said send it back and we’ll replace it. After a few emails back and forth, I’ve got it squared away. Anyway, the main point of the post is this… as part of SPRO customer service is they replace the bait with the same one and throw in an extra one. So, for one defective bait (that I don’t even have) I’m sending back that’ll cost me whatever a stamp is now days (like $20 or something…) and I’m getting 2 back. Another reason to buy more SPRO.
  22. I’ll have to try that. I’ve only ever used them as trailers, to which I believe they are awesome! When I’m in/around Chattanooga, I’ll stop into Hog Farmer and stock up.
  23. I haven’t found a use for the 3.5” spunk shad. What are you going to use it for? I’m guessing I could throw it on a chatterbait mini?
  24. I’m in. You had me at Donut. Where in Knoxville? (I’ve probably tried them all - I like donuts)
