  1. @gimruis yeah it’s a bummer. Honestly water level in the river has a lot to do with it. This fish are so spread out it’s insane. When the bass master kayak tournament was here everyone was complaining how low it was. It’s a foot lower than when they were here. I’ve been going out on it too because I’m so over fishing the one unlimited HP lake around.
  2. Crank baits, drop shot and spinners were probably my three best baits. Surprisingly ned rigs and top water I never got going this year. I had a great spring and summer. But, late summer into fall my river fishing has stopped due to dangerously low conditions. I ended up lake fishing a lot this year and doing decent for large mouth. This was however the worst October and November I’ve ever had. I blame that on not being able to fish the over and the abnormally warm fall we had. All in all I had a great year and am looking forward to 2025! Edit: One thing I always try to keep in mind is my worst days are someone’s best days and my best days are someone’s worst days. I enjoy these puzzle piece days when they aren’t crushing it. I also enjoy when I stumble on the jackpot pattern for the day. The mystery interests me.
  3. Glad you are safe! Sounds like you had a lot of scar situations this trip but came out unscathed. It’s a true bummer work got in the way. I have a work cell phone and do not take it home with me. I’m not salaried they cannot make me answer calls or take emails outside of my clocked in time. Hence why a welding machine sat for 3 days because no one knew how to trouble shoot it but me. the susky is looking better and better for you!
  4. I think I’d the lake has a map chip for it that’s a better place to start. See stuff on the map than low speed scan and mark what you want to fish. I always try to do as much “pre fishing” from home as I can on a new body of water. Countless hours on YouTube, google maps, fishing reports, Navonics etc.
  5. @LrgmouthShad man I thought you would have caught him on a Big Mac! He eatin good!
  6. I only use like 3 things so I can’t really move away from anything
  7. Are high end reels nice? 100% I enjoy them. I do not buy them to make up casting distance because I suck at casting. I buy them because the way they feel and cast to me. Proper casting mechanics matter more than a certain spool or the DC. They mask your own issues. again I do have Metanuims I love them. I can’t say I cast than any better than my tranx151.
  8. Yeah, that was lame.
  9. I do not plan on buying anything. I have plenty. Most things are fish are extremely easy to come by so I can buy them anytime
  10. Glad you are safe buddy. Submerged obstacles come at you quick. I play the game with rocks all the time. Sounds like you aren’t having the best trip so far. Hopefully you turn around and get some money!
  11. I enjoy a tournament here or there. I could never follow a trail.
  12. @MN Fisher when you tell the ref you’re getting head butted in two different fights and nothing gets done maybe you shouldn’t let Tyson take matters into his own mouth….i men’s hands. I’m willing to bet he never head butted anyone again.
  13. @Koz keep that FFS in the truck! Kidding. Also one thing pros will always tell you is don’t listen to boat ramp talk. It’s just that. Keep your head out and grind it out! ps told you that you should have gone to the susky instead.
  14. May I warn you if there is an incline and this isn’t all flat look out. The only waylay that boat will stop is when it hits something if it gets away from you.
  15. One word of advice for both of you. Try to fish your strengths. Anyone can find fish. It’s finding the fish you can catch. Good luck! Enjoy it!
  16. I think they’re very few people that don’t want Tyson to steam roll him. Just for old times sake. you think though He’s going to get x millions of dollars to take a nap at Tyson’s hands. I almost can’t blame him.
  17. @MediumMouthBass I either want it cold enough to ice fish or warm enough the water doesn’t freeze. I hate those inbetween years where it’s frozen but, not hard enough to ice fish.
  18. Winterizarion? You mean put gloves and a beanie on right?
  19. I have never been to Ontelaunee. The rock view bridge and fort hunter area are neat. The only down side of it is it’s hard on boats.
  20. Welcome aboard! I am assuming you are talking about Ontelaunee. I am manly on the susky but, the second half of this year has left me more fishing blue marsh.
  21. Good luck buddy! I see a YouTube handle in your future kayak koz! I like it.
  22. The catfish, musky, snakehead ate them all. The won’t be shallow in winter The flood water pushed them all down stream
  23. Great write up. I have only done a handful of tournaments but, there is a thrill when you feel like you are being competitive and catching fish. Good luck on your next one!
  24. Honestly I think what most the kayak guys do is excessive. If that’s what people want to spend their money on though have at it.
