Crappie lures to cover water and target bigger fish
please share, what answer did you come up with?

Do you ever fish with a lure that has no hooks ? I do under certain conditions.
Several years ago I talked to an old timer who fished muskies in the fall with large suckers and no hook. He would somehow tie onto the sucker in the middle of the body, he would allow the muskie to swallow the sucker and the sucker would turn sideways in the gut and the muskie would not be able to spit it out.

When a hook point is dull.
I could not agree more.

Poor Man's Powerpole
Thanks for the responses. I'm considering getting one of these for my 16' alum boat this spring. I think it would see limited use but could be very handy in some situations. I'm listing MN fisher as the solution, he confirmed what I was thinking. The stayput version has a handle available that could be used as a push pole, paddle, boat hook. I usually carry a long paddle that I use as a push pole so I could get double use out of a stake out stick.

Poor Man's Powerpole
Does anyone have any experience with or thoughts on the manual stake out poles like the ones Stay put shallow water anchor sells? It is basically a bracket that goes on the bow or stern and a 3/4 inch dia pole (8 to 12 foot) that passes down through the bracket into the bottom of the lake.

Toy for Soft Bird Lure
Who cares what we think, go find out if the bass are impressed. I think it is a clever idea and would give it a try, if nothing else it would be fun to see the look on my fishing buddies faces.

Paint Cracking on New Devil Horses.....??
Must be made of made of wood? Usually this is caused from not enough sealer in the wood before painting.

Should I keep it the way it is, fix it, or replace it all?
It's an inexpensive, easy fix so no harm will come from the repair, but you will probably not like the repaired rod. I always like to say those last few inches of the tip are the best part of the rod.

Braid-to-leader on a bait-casting rig?
For what it is worth, I approve. I've been hi vis braid to fluorocarbon on spinning tackle for a couple years and this year switched on my one baitcaster. It is helpful with my aging eyes. I have had a couple knot failures but that is my own fault. Fishing frogs in the slop I prefer straight braid as the fluorocarbon seems to sink and tangle in the pads.

you working stiffs. do you play hookie to fish?
I think I feel a sick day coming on, the lakes around here are so busy during the weekend, the week days are much better.

Barbs
Thanks for all the responses, everyone has their opinion and there is no right or wrong answer. One does have to have faith that their hook will remain stuck in the fishes mouth.
