  1. Quick after work session, this was too pretty to bury in other species I got a bass too so it's an official bass trip
  2. I run really long leaders on my spinners, dang panfish here love to attack the connecting knots so I like to keep it out of the water whenever possible. Casting rods I run about a rods length, long but connecting knot is out of the reel on a cast.
  3. Copper state tackle 20% off site wide no code required. Checked and it works on Megabass baits but not Shimano reels so some exclusions.
  4. Bass side of the last striper day First fish of the morning ate a keitech/flashy swimmer in the shallow grass. 2nd and third doubled up on the A rig, one popped himself free before I could get a decent pic. I lost the rig on the next cast, October curse strikes me again. Dock fishing dinks Evening popper bite picking up This poor gill got a single treble point directly between the eyes and died instantly, bummed me out I don't like harming fish for sport. Wrapping up the day with a good popper run
  5. They also sell combo size packs of their hooks for a decent discount, you can get a box with 2/0, 3/0, 4/0, 5/0 all in one pack for $20 and I think Amazon might have a 15% discount right now. https://www.amazon.com/BKK-Offset-5-Pack-Fishing-Stronger/dp/B0FDW4W9G7
  6. New tips arrived today, 1 week since I contacted GSM. They did good by me.
  7. @HawkeyeSmallie it was the only one of that model in stock so I will have to get a refund. It was definitely a first for me, annoying but I've never had a similar problem so I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Been a rough month haha bird broke a window on my house, water heater hose leaked, broke 2 rod tips and then this one snapped. October is cursed for me this year. *2 tip inserts, didn't actually break blanks, knock on wood...
  8. Copper state tackle 25% off all top water lures no code needed. Works on Megabass/Shimano so I assume other restricted brands.
  9. First cast with a scum frog popper and the blank snapped in half just above the 4th guide lol. I'll chalk it up to manufacturing defect, hopefully the return is painless.
  10. I've been waiting for one of these to show up in my local DSG, I don't trust them to ship rods and wanted to fondle it a little. $80 for a full cork light froggy rod, feels really nice in hand for the price. Now I probably need another Tatula 100.
  11. I need to get new tips for 2 of my Dobyns rods. Took about 6 minutes on hold today to get GSM on the phone, they sent me a parts request email while I was still on the line. I was told tips will take about 3 weeks to ship, no cost, if they're not in stock they will provide the fuji part # so I can source them. So far so good, we'll see how it progresses.
  12. Biggest of 29 today, mix of LMB and striped.
  13. Slx mgl 70, 6 or 7 speed, 10lb fluoro. The super duty 300 is a heavy swimbait reel, not ideal for that rod or intended technique.
  14. This is my go-to football jig, never gave much thought to the mixed skirt material but they get bit.
  15. Amazon got me with one of their sneaky coupons that seem to show up for no reason. 30% off a Dobyns champ extreme 745C Paired with an 8 speed Tatula 100
  16. First big striper boils of the year, no big fish yet but we followed this school for almost 3 hours, 100+ fish landed. Wasn't taking pics since we were unhooking and casting as fast as possible, but I finally got my first a rig double.
  17. Bycatch from the first striper trip of the year
  18. Not sure when this happened but TW lets you pick your free sticker now! I stopped getting them long ago because I had a stack of the regular red rectangles.
  19. @HawkeyeSmallie Add a used rod to cart and it puts the gift card in cart for $0 automatically
  20. Kicking off a marathon 3 days on the forebay with post frontal conditions, there was still some lightning in the distance when I set out in the morning. Took a little while to find a wind protected bank and get a first fish, but I'm ok with a slow start. The rest of the day was all bass including a run of poor fish with messed up jaws This was fish #11 on Friday, a sign of things to come Probably also a sign of things to come, seals mean fish in the area Another 8 or so rats down the road, chaos ensues. Wolf packs of striper are smashing shad on the bank, boils are popping up everywhere Not going to post all the pics, but I landed 44 striper in a 4 hour frenzy, including this one who gave me my first hook through a finger! He was also kind enough to rip the hook out just as fast as it went in. Owner STX-58 #2 is not gentle After that every fish gets the grips Spook was looking pretty good overall after that first dink. It got a workout Day 3 back at it and fish are boiling at first light My friend the seal ate his fill and was sleeping off a fish hangover Do I count this as a catch? Another 34 today, fewer boils but the spook bite is taking off and fish are being called up. I haven't added everything up yet but the 3 day total was north of 120 fish, big thumbs up!
  21. I haven't done any scientific measurements but it does add noticable casting distance. Granted I'm comparing a miravel with short stroke spool and cheapish sufix 832 braid to an exsence with every feature offered and PEX8 braid. Comparison was done with the same rod/leader/bait. It takes a lot longer to get deep into the spool so I think line just comes off the lip more efficiently.
  22. I use the small cuda scissors and nail clippers in the garage, boomerang snip always in my backpack. I tried the pittbulls and they're ok but I feel like they're a lot bigger than necessary. Maybe if you're constantly working with super heavy test line, they're overbuilt for a line cutter.
  23. Top 3 from the bank for me. Finesse paddle tail. 2-3" on the lightest head you can comfortably throw. 1/16oz will let you slow roll a swimbait ultra shallow. Senko. 4-5" t rig or wacky Small top water. 1/4oz popper, Zara puppy, karashi or similar.
