  1. Labor day weekend dink fest Started out Thursday fishing the nastiest grassiest urban duck pond with a buddy, managed one on a 2.5" mayor just before sunrise fishing the only tiny bit of open water. Friday AM on the river, bite started slow but I picked up a couple swimbait eaters in the dark. 2nd fish absolutely inhaled the mayor, thankfully hook wasn't in the gills, fish was fine. Always meeting interesting characters on the bank, this guy wanted to know why I was letting fish go after I caught them so I explained the concept of catch and release, as well as limits/legal sizes/fishing licenses. Sunday and Monday I fished the forebay just to see how the early season striper were acting Caught about 50 of the baby size Karashi eaters, wasn't taking pics just shaking them off with pliers One last forebay bass for good measure
  2. All rapala is buy 3 get 3 free at dicks currently
  3. Copper State tackle 25% off site wide, no code required
  4. Same thoughts here, yzh also has a significant larger diameter vs typical fluoro so that 10 & 12 are really more like 12 & 15 fc. I wouldn't go over 8lb on any 3k or smaller spinner.
  5. I haven't tried the 130 but the 110 has been really good for me, I also keep a couple in a heavy wire 2 hook config for striper. I don't remember if they're STX45 or 58 but the 2x#4 uprated weighs the same as the factory 3 hook.
  6. I have a 1000 on a 6' st croix premier medium light. Fun setup for chuck and wind, the reel is super slow 5:1 so gotta remember to burn just about everything or I'll sink and snag. The 2 piece bail can catch thin braid but it's not really a big deal if you're aware of it.
  7. Couple things coming from TW. Guess I'm on the fuzzy bait train now, mostly wanted to try the new rerange 95.
  8. ALF doing a buy 1 get 2 free deal on a mixed assortment of baits https://www.americanlegacyfishing.com/collections/buy-1-get-2-free
  9. Tackle warehouse labor day sale is up, 20% off select brands 10% off site wide. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-LABORDAY.html
  10. decent early season striper from the bank, fun fight on BFS/6lb line Shook off about a dozen this size, constantly slashing at the bait every cast Bait has been well chewed this season, all the paint is gone from the gills, tons of bite marks, 2nd set of hardware.
  11. I tried and liked the 12lb, still have a spool of 15 to use at some point. I stuck with yzh because of availability and price.
  12. Ht moroko ks has been my #1 this year, the paint is absolutely shredded on that bait and on its second set of hooks and split rings.
  13. favorite setup is a 6" roboworm non fat on a size 1 owner cover shot and a 3/16 skinny sinker. ~.2mm braid to 8lb YZH leader. I've had good luck with the berkley flat worms but I don't fish an open hook often. If I was looking for a goby imitation I'd take a look at the xzone stealth invader rods/reels Fury 702/Miravel 2500 and Champ extreme 702/Exsence 2500
  14. I use KVD, maybe it's placebo but I feel like it helps especially with heavier line. An 8oz spray bottle has also lasted me 2+ years so far so the cost is negligible.
  15. baitsanity explorer gill
  16. Their highest end stuff is built in Japan but a ton already comes out of China, Expride rods for example are made in China. Their lures & majority of the reels come out of Malaysia.
  17. Loomis is owned by Shimano, I would expect they raise prices soon as well. Even being American made tariffs are going to hurt them. Fuji components, cork, raw carbon for the blanks will all be getting more expensive.
  18. early morning fish were digging the 2.5 mayor today Multi species top water fun "best" of 5 from a quick walk down the bank with the mayor Solid one to wrap up the morning
  19. The 7m is my do all spinner, I love it. Paired with a vanford f c3k it does anything from weightless plastics to swimbaits for striper.
  20. No, it takes energy to drag to weight of the line behind your lure. If you have ever had a lure break off on a bomb cast you will see just how far they fly with no line resistance.
  21. All things being equal smaller diameter line will cast further. It's lighter and has less resistance through the air.
  22. Best 4 out of about a dozen this morning, the fish were noticeably fired up for the first time in a while here. Almost feeling like fall, I could see my breath this morning and there was a ton of mist on the water Got poked with spines about a thousand times releasing angry baby stripers, the tiny ones are the worst! Actually got some dink bass thumb
  23. Daiwa brakes are somewhat unique, they are purely magnetic but use centrifugal force to modulate the strength of the brakes throughout the cast. They do have some static magnetic brakes such as the non Z mag force and the mag trax brakes in the CA/CR reels.
