  1. My first whopper plopper bank find, ripped out of some tules along with a ton of old line that initially snagged my bait. The rigs people tie are just baffling some times. this was loop knot through swivel to snap to a second swivel to split ring. All the trash line they left in the water.
  2. Made a template to do 1:1 factory Yamamoto fuzzy Senko clones, minus one row for a wacky band. With half price worms from DSG and skirt tabs from TW my total cost per worm is $0.59. If anyone is interested the factory setup is a 4" section of fuzz, 14 bands with 2x2.2" strands each spaced at 0.3077" and each band alternating 45 degrees.
  3. I think aftco makes gloves with an open palm. The hookup tackle was advertising some osp gloves ultra thin with no palm this week, but they're $60. I just use cheap kast king gloves and love them, they have the pleather palm but it's never bothered me.
  4. @woolleyfooley it's a savage gear RTF trout, unfortunately discontinued I think.
  5. Striper fishing has been slow recently but did manage another double on the rig
  6. I am extremely familiar with the area where this took place. There is a no wake zone but it's not legal, basically one dock where the property owner has posted their own signs. There's a big yacht parked there and most people do slow down just to not be jerks. 2nd boat was 100% not paying attention.
  7. I've been running these since last August. 18lb on a medium light 2500 spinner and 21lb on a medium C3000, no issues to report I have been very happy with it. the 21lb was noticeably stiffer than the 18 when it was first spooled up but it softened up very quickly.
  8. I like a dropshot rod with an open keeper below the grip. Weight clips into the keeper and line is pulled tight.
  9. Dedicated rod that's always setup, but I also have a little clamshell box of dropshot tackle so other rods can serve double duty if necessary.
  10. Berkley baits BOGO at copper state tackle no code needed
  11. @bartnc37 A teener striper bent out a 4/0 dirty jigs Matt Allen head, but I was fighting the fish from a dock surrounded by dock pilings and had no room to let it run. Still landed the fish and the hook bent back no issues. Pretty sure those heads use a Mustad ultrapoint hook, but it might be a VMC these days. I've also had no issues with VMC, the redline flipping hooks will stick you if you look at them funny, and I landed a dozen bass using their new GT heads on an a rig this weekend.
  12. Morning fish fired up for the rig First fish on a fuzzy senko, I guess they work but can't say they're any better than a regular senko yet. Second fuzzy senko fish was a trip. Cast at a tree, senko dropped in but my line was over one little twig. I made my call and said "I'm gonna fish this senko like a top water and a bass is going to rip it out of the tree for me". Well, twitched the fuzzy senko on the surface a few times and this 4.3 did exactly what I asked. A rig to close out the day
  13. I use seaguar blue label on my spinning rods. Casters are pretty much all fluoro or straight braid.
  14. It's a great way to cover water, and a fun bite burning or bottom bouncing. I also suppose it depends what things are like locally, if the bite is just starting you might be better dragging a jig or t-rig slow. Here in CA spring is in full swing, bass are in all 3 phases of the spawn, there's already fry and empty beds.
  15. Palomar for braid, pitzen or double pitzen for any mono/fluoro.
  16. Bladed A rig Flashy swimmer underspin Trap/Bladed jig as previously mentioned
  17. Copper state tackle 20% off April 15-20, no code.
  18. @bishoptf The stores all seem to handle these sales differently in person too. At my local DSG strike king/rapala/whatever brand is currently b3g3 will just ring up 50% off, doesn't matter if you buy 1 or 6.
  19. Duo realis silent pencil Ima Japan skimmer grande, also a silent bait
  20. https://a.co/d/0bhwlg98 6" trick shad for $25
  21. @Banned User mostly tat elites for me, but my routine for any new daiwa reel now before line goes on is to pull the spool and oil the spool/pinion bearings.
  22. A number of my daiwas have done this out of the box, it's always dry bearings.
  23. 8th ounce. I usually throw 16th but I'm fishing shallow water slow.
