  1. My brother in law gave me this tiny jitterbug. I've been doing some searching and I can't find them for sale anywhere. I can't find anything about them. There are a few on ebay and it appears to known as the mini jitterbug or 1.5 size. Can anyone tell me anything about them? Are they discontinued? Were they popular?
  2. Sometimes I'll throw my jitterbug out and it'll not crawl side to side, rather, it seems to just skim the surface and not do anything. This happens most of the time on a long cast when the line is lying on the water. As soon as the line picks up off the water from between the rod tip and the lure, it starts crawling and having the correct action. Also, sometimes during the retrieve it will appear to glide across the surface of the water for a foot or two, then start crawling again. I have the 2" version. What causes this? My gut tells me it has something to do with the line tie in the blade. Is there any tricks to tuning it?
  3. One of those days. I have them sometimes, thankfully not much. Glad it wasn't worse for you, could have hooked yourself bad or got dumped.
  4. My local walmart has Big Game fluoro and I've been thinking about giving it a try as my entry into fluoro. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Berkley_Trilene_Big_Game_Fluorocarbon_Line_Clear/descpage-BTBFC.html Anyone here have used it and recommend it or should I stay clear of it?
  5. Thanks for sharing. I haven't fished a big worm a lot, but I have been having some good success with a regular sized ribbontail. I do have a few packs of larger ones, I'll have to break them out.
  6. Awesome to hear of it. I have had similar blessings several times.
  7. If it's starting to be a burden, you can always cut back on the amount of extra things you do. Buy lures instead of making them, do some bank fishing instead of taking the boat, or just take a break for a while.
  8. I go from a few more casts to about 15 minutes. Normally within 5 minutes though I will hang it up.
  9. I recently saw a flogger in a video and learned of their existence. Interesting technology for sure.
  10. It never occurred to me to put a piece of masking tape over the slit. Thanks.
  11. That is very nice. I've been wanting to get into airbrushing myself. Though, I don't really know where to start. I do have a compressor, so, I guess that is something.
  12. Well, older. I'm 41 now, but when I was about 13 through 20 I was a subscriber to BassMaster and I was a card carrying member of the Bass Angler Sportsman Society. I subitted a tip that was published, and thus I was awarded a "Harry & Charlie" hat, which I worn constantly until my hair fell out, and then the hat subsequently fell apart. I don't have any of the old magazines left, but I found a short stack of In Fisherman magazines at the recycling dropoff from the same era. Man I miss those good old days. Anyways, I was just thinking about it and wanted to share.

What's the deal with folks not liking Googan? I just heard of it a couple days ago.
  14. I've lost five or more Texas rigs on one quick trip to the river.
  15. I need to start saving plastics... I did for a while.
  16. Ky state record is 14 pounds 9.5 ounces. Just a couple shad short of 15 pounds.
  17. I appreciate all the brand suggestions. Siebert is looking good. I am checking out their jigs too.
  18. I caught 19 the other day, but didn't have the phone for pictures. 10 bass, 8 bluegills, and 1 flathead catfish. Almost all of them were on a black roostertail. The cat was about 5-6 pounds, and one of the prettiest fish I've seen. Today I got a few more, with a bonus turtle! The boy scooped him up and we passed him around a minute.
  19. The first jig was a basic pumpkin seed. I don't know the brand, it was gifted to me. The second jig with purple is a homemade. I met a fellow at the lake a few years back that gave me 4-5 jigs and this was one of them.
  20. I believe I could. I landed several fish, carp and gar, in that range in heavy current at the river. Using 10 and 12 pound line on bass lures. I always check my drag and keep it set so a 4-5 pound bass could peel line off.
  21. You could use an empty soft plastic baggie to store various soft plastics that I might want to use again, but for whatever reason you don't want to put back in the bag. I have a bad habit of taking a soft plastic off and putting it in my shirt pocket, then putting on a shelf when I get home. Then, after a year, I'll rinse all the miscellaneous soft plastics off and put then in their respective bags.
  22. Never heard of that before. Pretty awesome story though.
  23. That split is fine if you're working with a baitcaster. If you're working with a spinning or spincasting reel, you need to spool from the end, and if that split happens to be on the end, it's annoying as heck.
  24. Interesting read and congratulations. I thought I'd hooked a huge bass the other day, until I saw my line rolling. I didn't weigh him, but it was 5-6 pounds, on a Roostertail!
  25. I do several things, depending on what plastics and how they are rigged. If it's something that I use a lot, and I know won't rust the hook in short order, I normally leave it rigged and put it back in the bag. Most of the Zoom lures I use fall into this category. If it's a trailer on a jig or spinnerbait, I normally leave it rigged and put it back in the box. Provided, I know it's not going to cause rust. If it's a bait that causes rust, or a bait that I rarely will use, I will de-rig it and put it back in the bag. As a last resort, I will throw away the soft plastic and save the rest of the rig, if for some reason I want to, but can't, unrig it without destroying the plastic.
