What are your 2026 fishing goals?
To not scratch my custom Pixy.

Would you claim a state/world record if it ment blowing up your local lake/river spot?
Of course. I am not anal whatsoever about "mah secret spot".

Do you install aftermarket drag clickers?
On aliexpress, ebay or Temu.

Is it true that a smallmouth’s vision is based on profiles and not on colors?
I know that red is the color they see most, and the chartreuse color looks white to them

2026 STEEZ SV LIGHT TW
Still non adjustable zero adjuster, no 34mm spools, no buy. Too bad for you, Daiwa.

Do you install aftermarket drag clickers?
Was thinking of grabbing one for my 24 met dc. Are you running one in your reels?
-
digital baitcasters ?
You buy a DC reel for its sound. If you don't like it, or don't care about it, DC reels have no purpose. All you get with DC reel are heavy spools because they must have magnets on them. I like the sound, so i have them. That's it.

Split or full grip
At first i wanted full, but nowadays, i don't even pay attention to it. Too many good rods that only offer split, and i am not about to skip a quality rod because the handle isn't full.
-
Do you want the latest greatest?
I stick to high end, but not always the highest end because people consider it as the greatest. Like for example i always considered an Anteres as a waste of money reel, and have no intention of buying any of the new calcutta reels.

Ceramic Bearings
You replace all the internal bearings to ceramic hybrids, run them dry, do it on a 200size reel full of fluoro, and have a heavy 100mm handle, and the handle will sping forever if you free spin it. It really means nothing, same with those 1 minute plus free spool vids you see on youtube. This is how Boca Bearings marketed their overpriced bearings from Asia🙂

2026 Shimano new releases
Barely any posts in this thread. Nobody cares about Shimano releases or what?

Ceramic Bearings
High end reels come with high end bearings. You ain't gaining anything by upgrading to ceramics. But quality lower end reels like the new Tat100, that is an upgrade that could make much more sense. That said, all my non DC reels have zpi, kusugi works, ktf, hedgehog ceramics. Most of which came from me buying used reels, and they were already installed. One day i decide to sell the reel, but keep the bearings, and now i have a mountain of quality bearings 🙂

cooper custom reel handles
Look at those sharp edges, it looks so ugly and cheap. I would take a Blackmax handle over this thing any day, let alone a stock handle on a $200+ reel.

cooper custom reel handles
First time i hear of them, so had to google. They seem to be a match made in heaven for a Googan reel.

2026 Shimano new releases
Extremely lazy releases, they're giving away the hype to Daiwa. Scorpion DC not even being coresolid built is weird. The only thing that i kinda liked to see is the limited conquest in a silver color, and that's only because i am tired of the same gold and gunmetal Shimano has been using for the longest time.

Does the Daiwa Tatula 100 have an aluminum handle side plate?
I have tried the Tat100 fully upgraded to 12 bearings, and its extremely close to my 12bb Zillion. Absolutely worth doing the mod if you care about the smoothness.
-
Old reels
Personally not a fan of anything released prior to the early 2000s. Too bulky and heavy.
-
Why BC reels Not Shimano/Daiwa are No-Go's?
Smoothness is important, but what people don't mention enough is for how long that smoothness lasts compared to all other brands.

Which Reel as gift?
Its the same frame, minus the magnesium side plate instead of a plastic one on the DC. Still, the frame of the Bantam is comfier to me than the one on the Met. looks better, too.

It’s too cold to fish! So what’s your favorite rod under $50, under $100, and so on?
Haven't used any cheap rods in over 15 years. No idea what's good in that price range. The last two that i liked around the mid 2000s were the Fenwick HMX and the Fenwick HMG (the cherry red ones).

Swimbait reel?
I don't believe its dry. Older Tats going noisy/grindy is normal. This is the main reason why i never cared, nor suggested any older Tats. Newer ones with new gears, and frame, tho, amazing for the money.

Which Reel as gift?
I have the 24 DC, and its my fav shimano ever. But still, Bantam is better built because the palming side plate is metal, which its plastic on the met dc.

Swimbait reel?
Z2020 rules them all. I use mine for up to 7oz baits, and with a 7.10" rod as well. Simply couldn't glaze a reel more than this thing. OG ryoga2020 is another one that will last forever, but not as comfy to palm all day. For "cheap", the new Tat200 is best for the price. People been using it on the swimbait underground, and i haven't heard a single negative.

Does the Daiwa Tatula 100 have an aluminum handle side plate?
Same thing with the og steez. They were all magnesium except the last couple made, such as the limited, the namiki one and the USDM Steez SV from 2015, which all use Zion plates from the original SS SV.
