KARASHI 80 ; ANYBODY GET ONE?
I bought 4. Can't wait to use them. My two most productive colors in the regular karashi are still in stock at TW as of right now.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Ordered 4x the new Karashi 80's. The standard Karashi is my favorite lure. Hopefully these live up to the hype. I wanted them because I have a need for a super shallow jerkbait, but did not want to try the vision 110 shallow.

High priced baits
The most expensive bait I have paid full retail for is a tiny klash @ $110. There is not really anything on the market to compare a tk or k9 to. I do feel the bait is overpriced for what it actually is. But, $110 on a bait that will last forever if you do not lose it vs multiple bags of soft plastics at $5 to $7 a pop that need to be replaced every couple of fish...$110 is really not expensive. Plastics add up quick if you fish them a lot. That is why I always laugh at this conversation. Guys cant bring themselves to spend $60 on a chad shad, but will go through a couple hundred in plastics and not bat an eye. Make it make sense.

What is your price point of Diminishing Returns on rods and reels?
The only specific reel I have ever owned that I would consider diminishing return on would be the Met B. It really did not impress me at all for the price. And I have tried that reel twice just to make sure it was not in my head. I have other reels from $150 to $400 and I see value in all of them. With inflation over the last couple years, rods now days I really feel like you have to get into that $300 price point before you really start stepping into lower end quality. My opinion of that may change when the new Levante series is released for purchase. I think rods in the $300 - $500 range are the sweet spot for value vs quality in 2026.

Scale
Well, the $11 KK arrived. So far so good. Tested it on multiple known weights and it is consistently about 2% light on the reading. Doesn't seem to matter if it is 2lb or 10lb, scale accurately measures 2% light every single time. 2lbs reads 1.96, 5lbs reads 4.9lbs, 10lbs reads 9.8lbs. So, I will just assume that I will add 2% to whatever fish I weigh and that should be close enough for my needs. Hopefully this one will last a little longer. The whole reason I chose this was because of the advertised waterpoofness.

Starting with Power or Finesse?
Every new area that I do not know starts with some sort of mid size natural looking moving bait to find fish. Typically a spinner bait or a 4" - 6" soft swimbait.

Scale
Same. I am going to give it a try. If it sucks or fails quickly it is only $11. Hoping it is close to accurate. I will test it. I have a few clamps laying around to ditch the hook.

Can you be a little more specific on the area you are in? Are you in the metro area? East side? Gorge?

Doing some reading on these I have a question. Can you tare (zero) the Kast King mentioned above?

Dobyns spinnerbait review
100% is. I have probably 30 of them. That is a tuning issue, not a hook issue. All of mine run straight and true. Simply put, they flat out last everything else. Super heavy wire and hook. Awesome head that cuts through weeds as well. A lot of color and blade configurations. A lot of spinnerbaits catch fish. But very rarely are any of them built in a manner that will last awhile. The Beast is just as the name describes. Another great option for consideration is the Megbass SV-3. It is a smaller profile...much more compact...but almost just as stout.

Dobyns spinnerbait review
Dobyns Beast is the best spinnerbait on the market and I have been through literally hundreds of different brands and styles.

I would be on the board with a 6.5 to 7 lmb after the weekend but I don't have a scale yet 🤣 Big swimbaits are rad. Just saying.

Scale
Wow thank you all for the responses. The scale the died on me was indeed the Rapala high contrast scale. It did not last one season. I am going to read up on all of the recommendations and choose one to try. Hopefully I will have better luck. The KK is intriguing as I mostly bass fish from a kayak and water is always a concern. I have also had the scale that @Bluebasser86 linked, and it was never accurate and did not last very long.

Scale
My scale crapped out recently. If I am going to win state-to-state, I need to buy one. What have you all had success with?

That is actually not a bad deal. I might have an Edge fly rod in my future.

What is your most successful lipless crankbait, (size , color, etc.)
I've never caught a fish on a lipless. I own probably 20 of them and have fished them. There are just many other baits that work much better for me that I have no confidence in traps.

Who's the hardest core angler at Bass Resource?
@A-Jay and @Swamp Girl get my vote. Ajay for his attention to detail, Swamp Girl for her dedication to time on the water. I thought that I spent a ton of time fishing until I started seeing the hours Swamp Girl puts in. I bass fish 4 hours a day most days of the spring/summer/fall, with lots of fall/winter/spring river fishing for other species. But Katie puts me to shame with the hours she puts in.
