  1. That is not surprising to hear on the Miravel as it is in the finesse family and that style of fishing (trolling I am assuming) it is not designed for. Stradic and Vanford are also in two different classes of reel though, and the two are definitely built different. Anything Core Solid is Shimano's power family, anything MGL is finesse family.
  2. Shimano has two categories of spinning reels. Power reels and finesse reels. Pick something from the finesse family that suits your budget. For me it is the Vanford 2500. Also don't confuse power and finesse categories with reel size and line capacity. The two do not go hand in hand.
  3. I've been too busy making baits and coaching baseball
  4. I just learned about this yesterday. Weighs almost a half ounce, but is a slow sink just like the original. This should be an absolute killer lure and I am sure I will end up with a dozen or so.
  5. I've got one that I run in my personal shop at home. Thing sounds like a jet engine but it will heat that shop up in no time.
  6. Owner flashy swimmer in different sizes and the Trokar swim blade in 7/0 is what I use. Had to get the Trokar to match some larger soft swimbaits.
  7. I am in the split grip arena, but have and enjoy both fully.
  8. Black Label Cliff Pace Snapshot and a 1/2oz white double willow spinnerbait.
  9. Thank you. I could not find that for the life of me.
  10. I saw the question asked earlier but did not see an answer. I too would like to know if there is a way to mark forum read. This was an option on the prior version that I used all the time. If it exists here, I am just having a hard time locating it. Everything else looks great and so far functions as it is supposed to for me.
  11. They come in strips just like the weight boards you can also stick on to tune to the depth you want. They are really effective when trying to tune a bait to a certain water temp to maintain a depth that you want to target for that particular bait. I will have two or three of the exact same bait that are all tuned differently for water temp. For example a 40 to 55 water degree bait, a 55 to 70 degree bait, and a 70 degree plus bait. And they will all run the same depth and sink at the same rate.
  12. I went heavy on the St Croix Mojo bass rods. The last gen before they ruined them with the new trigon models. For $140-$160 at the time my opinion is they were one of if not the best bang for the buck rods you could get. I have since moved on to Talon xmw rods. Those are NRX+ comparable for a retail of about $300. I still have and fish the Mojo's, but they take a back seat since I discovered Talon bass rods. Now days I typically don't even look at rods under the $300 mark. And I really am only buying rods that are built on a blank with the Loomis family's name attached to it regardless of rod brand. I don't really feel you get much out of a rod until you get to that price point for most brands. I prefer a little more quality. My current arsenal mostly consists of Talon and Leviathan (not Megabass), and they range in price from $300 to $500.
  13. I fish a lot of glide baits. Once you go down that rabbit hole its hard to stop. I have not tried the Berkley example mentioned, but was just gifted a Nessie for Christmas. I like the idea of the Nessie, but man does it absolutely STANK like chemicals. I doubt I will throw it. You can tune hard glides with float board if you want to keep them on the surface or just subsurface, practically eliminating everything Pat just said about the chance of loosing them from the bank in unknown structure. I would not let that detour you from throwing one. It will make them float like a wake bait, but they will swim better like a true glide does. They are extremely effective. You can also look into the line through top hook soft glide models if you would like to get some depth and not stress as much about snagging. Savage Gear bluegill is a great place to start for something along those lines. The great thing about glides is you will catch all the average size fish as everything will try to eat it, but it gives you a great opportunity to also catch the biggest fish in that particular body of water.
  14. Starting a YouTube channel 2026 edition.
  15. I'm a guy in Washington state.
  16. Could always find an old pellet stove on Craigslist and plumb chimney through exterior wall horizontally. There are lots of them on my local Craigslist for $300 to $500. We use one in our 40x70 steel building that our batting cages are set up in. Works really well to heat that space. I have one in my personal living room as well. Heats up the whole house.
  17. Lol! I read "medium action" as taper not rod weight. My bad.
  18. Rockhopper replied to LGDFW's topic in Fishing Tackle
I use them for lure action when needed, and firmly believe they should not be used to replace tying knots.

  21. The XPS Egg is very much alive on their website https://www.basspro.com/p/bass-pro-shops-xps-the-egg-crankbait The Evergreen CH-1 is another good option too. It is a little spendy though. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Evergreen_CH-1_Crankbaits/descpage-EGCH.html?from=basres
  22. Happens to me almost daily. I just refresh and ignore.
  23. There is a Youtube video floating around that in that guy's particular experiment he did the double sdj was the strongest of all the various knots tested.
  24. I throw a half ounce white with nickel double willow year round. It is always successful no matter the season.
