  1. Only good for 3 yrs.. 1st year they cover 1 replacement rod... After that you are on your own with megabass...
  2. I use my less pricey hard baits on pike filled lakes...
  3. Not the entire line... Just the xbites... Could have been a bad batch of rods during early production runs... P5 are beautifully crafted rods.. I just don't like the warranty period.. I'd rather pay a little more and go with nrx plus line and their lifetime warranty...
  4. We got 3 of them from Japan when they 1st came out... One buddy broke it high sticking a landed 2lb bass.. The other snapped it trying to cast a 1/2oz bladed jig.... Only mine is still in use but I tend not to treat it like a heavy rod that somehow megabass thinks that's its rating...
  5. It's still a fantastic rod.. I just tend to baby it a bit more than other rods.. I use it only for weightless plastics...i treat it as my finesse rod...
  6. Yes it matters.. For moving baits, the higher gear N higher line pickup ratio.. Will keep your baits way up in the water column unless you are reeling in slowly... I'd go with a 6 or 7 for square bills N most cranking duties...
  7. I researched for over a year and a half before I pulled the trigger on my autopilot 120...i realized that I did not want to pedal or paddle too much so when the autopilot was introduced.. It was a no brainer that was the only kayak I wanted... It's the only kayak I've ever been on.. I slowly collected and bought all my modifications even before I got the actual kayak... My only regrets after having it for 2 seasons now are getting guardian angel navigation lights (they are pricey and battery life is terrible.. I went with button style nav lights and a custom led lite flag pole after a few outings) and getting a 10 foot manual shallow anchor pole (its cumbersome to transport and I've only ever used it once)... Every other upgrade has ah fast made my kayak fishing experience much better than I could have ever expected after coming from being a back boater guy for many years... Best decision I ever made was to get it and finally have the freedom to go fishing whenever I wanted to..
  8. Xbites... It's the most sensitive rod I've handled in the p5 lineup... Javelin.. Most versatile rod... Can handle all moving baits and bottom contact if you could only bring one rod...
  9. That's about 60% of everything you can take apart... I rarely take the level wind apart.. And unless my bearings sound really noisy.. I'll just leave them in and just add drop of oil..
  10. Getting my setups ready for my 1st spring outing.. Here's my lineup for this season... I'm a gear junkie so I like to customize my reels with gomexus handles /knobs/drag stars... All my older reels have upgraded bearings and carbontex drags but since the current generation metaniums and bantams came out, the stock internals were not needed to upgrade... 11. I lay out each part in the order that I take them off... After doing a few, you will get more comfortable with disassembling them... I have about 15 baitcasters so finally being able to tear them down and servicing them myself, sure saves a bunch of money... Ill usually do a full service on the winter.. N a basic clean N lube midway in the summer..
  12. 3 power nrx. I prefer to stay under 3/8 N trailer.. Should be ok but I think you will be at the limit of the rod then.. 873 is more like a MH plus so I'm ok using it for 1/2 to 3/4.. Those are the only two 3 power nrx I have to compare to..
  13. Ned rig or most finesse baits... A drop shot is about as finesse as I'll get...
  14. I never liked using my 904c for chatterbaits... 903 would be over loaded with 3/4oz N trailer... I use my 893 for 3/8 N under.. Anything over I have a 894, 895, 873 N 904 to use...
  15. If wind picks up.. I just adjust external brakes up a bit... If I need to.. Turn internal brakes up too... Much easier to control boat facing into the wind so just have to adjust N learn how to cast into the wind if needed... Modern baitcasters now are so much better to deal with windy conditions..
  16. Rods dont fall off boats?... I've seen a few buddies lose stuff off boats... Only thing I've dropped in the water has been a bladed jig... Knock on wood..
  17. I don't tether them.. I try to be very vigilant on the water... Any boats that come near.. I'll be ready to turn my kayak into the wake if any... Just be as careful as I can to not put myself into situations that could flip me... I'm careful pulling rods out N putting them back in.. I never over head cast to hook any rods behind me.. I've master casting like I'm swinging a bat or hockey stick from my years of being a rear boat angler...
  18. This is how much room the black pack N engel cooler fit in my rear tank... I'll only bring both if I need to carry more than 10 rods... Just depends on the lake I'm fishing.. If I know I'll be cranking alot, that's 5 setups to cover every depth from shallow to deep.. Then I have other techniques to cover so thats the need for many setups..
  19. 10 rod holders on my black pack.. 4 holders on my engel cooler... N I still have 4 factory rod holders on my old town autopilot... I rarely carry that many but could if I wanted to.. Easier to pick up another rod than retying if I don't have to..
  20. P5 xbites or nrx plus 893c are two rods I use...
  21. Under 300...exprides are really good rods for their price point...
  22. Pros are paid to fish with rods they are affiliated with... Take whatever they try to tell you with a grain of salt... Rods are like tools.. Some people prefer to have and use nicer tools....
  23. It's a pretty stout rod.. I'll use it in the heaviest cover.. Even frog with it if I don't have my frog rod with me...
  24. Current metanium generation... I have every variation except for the DC..
  25. I use my nrx plus 894 for 1/2 Oz jigs and trigs..
