LC'S are better quality. I recently bought a LC flat CB and similar BPS xps crank are the same time. The LC has through wire construction (look at the bill, wire goes from line tie into the bogy of the bait) and better tungsten rattles. That said, the BPS seems to be a decent bait for the money. It runs true with a decent action. If you go with LCs get a plug knocker while you're at it. Knowing you can get your $18 crank back will let you fish it the way you need to. Bama Nate

I was able to get out for a few hours on Friday. I did not stray far from the Camp Chandler ramp though. Most of the guys I saw at the ramp were going up the lake to the more riverene section. Water temp was in the high 50's in open water and a couple degrees higher in the back of creeks. I caught a couple of LM's in the back of a creek on brush piles / docks with a steep bank and 4 to 6 feet of water if front of it. The bass were only 1.5 to 2lbs. No spotted bass. I went shallower / farther back and saw nothing. No bait, no birds etc. only turtles. If I had more time I would look for creeks with significant water flowing out of them and then look for shad schools and then look for ambush points for the fish. Let us know how it goes whether on Jordan or West Pt., as I would think the patterns would be similar on most lakes in the area. Roll Tide, Bama Nate

I have some but have not used them. I normally use a small fluke or grub trailer on spinner baits. I would assume the same for a jig but what are others using? Roll Tide, Bama Nate

I have not seen any posts regarding central Alabama in a while. I just got my boat in working order after working on it all summer and I am having a hard time finding fish on the lower end of Lake Jordan. ( last lake in the Coosa Chain ) The last few times I have been out the shallow bite just has not materialized except for a few small ones and they have been largemouth not spots. I saw some guys working jigging spoons on the river channel ledge next to a large flat but I never some them hook up. Any reports for anything in the area would be helpful as I only can get out for a few hours a week usually 9am to 2pm due to work and kids so I could really use some short cuts to establishing a pattern. Try the Army Corps of Engineers 100 Resource Management Drive Hayneville, AL 36040 334-872-9554 They have a visitor / tourist center on Highway 80 between Montgomery and Selma with all kinds of maps / literature on the river system. Last time I was there they did not have any hydrographic maps but plenty of other stuff to let you know where the creeks, dams and backwaters are. If they have any hydrographic (underwater topography ) maps please reply back. I could use it. Roll Tide, Nate

A FEW YEARS AGO, I WAS FISHING WITH A GUY ON THE APPALACHACOLA (SPELLING?) RIVER IN NORTHWEST FLORIDA AND HE CAUGHT A BABY ALLIGATOR ON A WORM BY DANGLING IT IN IT'S FACE. ALSO SAW ONE THAT WAS 10 FT PLUS. GOOD DAY OTHERWISE. HE LOST A 10LBER AT BOAT AND NUMEROUS 4-5 LBERS WHEN TIDE WAS MOVING. NO TIDE - NO FISH. I WAS FISHING OUT OF THE BACK OF BOAT AND HAD NEVER FLIPPED BEFORE AND ONLY CAUGHT DINKS. ONLY TIME I HAVE EVER FISHED IN TIDAL WATER BUT I WOULD RECOMMEND IT IF YOU CAN FIND A GOOD GUIDE OR HAVE ACCESS. HOWEVER LEAVE GATORS ALONE. Any thoughts on when to use a jig and trailer vs. a tube vs. craw worm on texas rig, c-rig or jig head vs. beaver vs. other imitations? I fish Alabama waters for largemouth and spots typically.
