  1. what type of line are you using. For mono and braid: palomar for fluoro: San Diego or trilene
  2. I heard Doug Hannon say once that there was a test done where bass were put in a long tank. In one side of the tank was 40 degree water, and the water temp. gradually increased until it got to the other end and topped out at 90 degree water. No other factors like food or oxygen, just temp. The bass chose 82.5 degree water. I personally believe that bass will not move across the lake for warmer water, but I always look for warmer water in the colder months not because that is where all the bass are but because those bass are mostly, but not always, a little more active than the bass in the colder water. In the summer I absolutely love spots where a small creek or some sort of a spring or runoff comes in. I have personally found in my experiences of the last few years that in early summer when the bass are holding at or near where this current they always will hold at some sort of current break, being a laydown, big rock, whatever. But in the middle and late summer when the temps. get a little higher than 82.5 degrees they will begin to stray from these current breaks during midday and position themselves in the mid to heavy current of the creeks running in much like smallmouth do. So I am a believer that when the water surpasses 82.5 or around there the largemouths will stop seeking out warmer water. Since there metabolism is in high gear they just put themselves in the middle of this current and eat whatever happens to float/swim by. I do really well at this time with heavy jigs/ soft plastics that are heavy enough to not get swept away by the current. My 2 cents on the issue.
  3. Cotton cordell
  4. awesome man! I just got back from a fishing trip in Missouri, but I didnt get anything that big.
  5. nice fish. nice story. thanks for sharing
  6. Hello and Welcome!
  7. Cajun Red Line is translucent so the light is able to pass through it. Daiichi Bleeding Bait hooks are not translucent so the light refracts and causes it to be visible. JT Bagwell Spoken like someone without any knowledge of physics... Now he invisible part. ;D spoken like someone without any knowledge of English. ps. red doesn't disappear right away, usually around 20 feet, putting red into play for most techniques.
  8. Yes they would
  9. I fish those in really shallow water along rocky banks for smallmouths.
  10. I am not much of a topwater guy but I catch a fair share on a Manns swimmin toad. I also do very good with a weightless tube bait, twitched like you would a spook, in the walk-the-dog fashion. The difference between the tube and the spook is that you can fish the tube much slower and when it sits the tentacles move slowly.
  11. Definitaly use fluoro instead, unless your fishing topwater for some reason. It is much less visible, which is a big plus in the gin clear waters of Montana. It is also more abrasion resistant, and sinks so it gives a lot of lures better action.
  12. Nope, never listen to music.
  13. Yessssss Exactly the lake I was looking for. PM sent.
  14. I use fluorocarbon, Trilene 100%. Much more abrasion resistence, less visible, transmits vibration better, and has more stretch than most people think.
  15. DO A SEARCH USING THE KEYWORDS RED HOOKS AND LINE. You will get a lot of results.
  16. Gotta disagree. While Drop Shotting puts fish consistently in the for me, it's not a big fish presentation like jigs are. I'm betting that you are not using 8 and 10 inch worms and bulky creature baits on your drop shots.
  17. we're all saying recession, I'm suprised nobody has mensioned DEPRESSION. Its not likely but its not impossible. We are starting to see a lot of the same precursers that happened before the Great Depression.
  18. I do. I go to Montana for 2-3 weeks each year in early summer. I use a spinning reel with a 7 foot med. light rod and 4 or 6 pound fluro line. I love to use super dupers, and I also use small spoons called cyclones as well as 1.5 and 2 inch grubs.
  19. I didn't want any names, I just wanted a yes or no, I guess that is a yes.
