Anybody play any instruments?
I am learning guitar. I have also been playing the turntable for about 4 years. -For those who think that the turntable is not an instrument you should check out DJ q-bert or Mixmaster mike on youtube.

Buying a belly boat
I've had both a kayak and a belly boat. The kayak I sold and the belly boat i fish in all the time. For me the ability to carry it on my back to remote ponds and fish where others can't go is great. Being able to kick and keep in place while casting is also a benefit. Nothing wrong with canoes and kayaks, but for me a float tube was the way to go

GY kreature bait
i love this bait as well. They are heavy enough to cast or pitch with no weight. At the lake i've been fishing at, the bass are in the edges of the lillypads. If i flip a jig or anything weighted they sink to fast into the millfoil around the pads and get hung up. I don't have this problem with the kreature and it has accounted for some great fish just pitching to mats all day.

Get together MA/RI night torney.
Unfortunately I won't be able to attend that date. I'm moving that weekend. I can get away with alot, but i'm pretty sure bailing to go fishing on moving weekend is one thing that the Wife won't put up with. No big deal, No date is going to work for everyone. Good luck on the water guys!!

Start Up Bait Shop Thread
I've never owned a tackle shop but my family did run a small convience store for a few years right down the road from a large supermarket. We made money but it was tough work. You had to be there everyday, all day. Hiring employees for such a small shop was not really feasible or you would have lost a fair amount of profit. The key to the whole situation was location. As for a tackle shop, online stores or BPS really do make things tough. Up by where I am in NH we do have one store that does pretty well. Northern Bass Supply. I think there are 3 reasons that they are so successful. First they are or were tournament anglers. They know what they are talking about and really help you out unlike most chains i know of. 2nd, They carry high end gear that you can't get at the wal-mart or other regular retailer. There also are no BPS or Cabelas up our way yet. They don't have a physical chain store to compete with. Thirdly. They do everything online as well as from the store. This lets them compete with the big boys online, but i can also drive over there and try out the latest reel if i want to. Ask anyone in NH where to get quality bass gear, and there really is only one name Northern Bass Supply. Their reputation allows them to succeed. Hopefully a description of this local successful store will give you some ideas on how to go forward. Good luck

Get together MA/RI night torney.
maybe if we change the name of the thread to MA/RI in it as well we'd get more people. I wonder how many guys haven't even clicked on it because they didn't take the time to see where it was located? Just an idea

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
Gbm- Welcome to the forum. you'll find a ton of great info on this site as well as great people. Jay- Great to see you doing so well. I read the same article in in-fisherman, and i'm glad to see the technique works. I wouldn't worry about having the "right" hooks for that technique, Special ball weighted wacky jigs just look like a gimmick since any quality ball jig should work.

When do you say something?
I help whenever I can. I'm no expert but I know enough to have an intelligent discussion and can spot a newbie without much problem. I never start the discussion with asking if they need any help. Instead I aske them something like "how's the fishing been". Or "what are you fishing for". Sometimes i'll even ask them for help, something like "do you know where the senko's are?". The best way to help is to strike up a conversation and then once you get them talking you can recommend anything. This is the same technique i use in my job as a salesman, and it helps pay the bills

Illegal outboard motor use
wagn, Just because laws are broken by some doesn't mean its OK for one to do so. I get that speed limit justification analogy all the time. If the speed limit was increasd by 10 mph, people would still go 5-10 mph over that because they can, not because its legal. Enforcement of those limits varies all over the country. Just try and go 5-10 mph over the limit in a school zone in some locations.

Illegal outboard motor use
i understand it's against the law, and i know that breaking the law is wrong. I also know that when i drive 5 over the speed limit i'm breaking the law. I'm not condoning breaking the law. I just want to know why there even is an hp law. No one has ever explained that to me. I understand things like electric only lakes. It will keep oil and gas from getting into the lake. I understand speed limits on certian lakes for safety. I just don't understand the point of hp limits on lakes. Just like i don't understand the point of a speed limit on the road if everyone drive 5-10 over. Why not just raise the limit by 10 and then ticket anyone that is over at all instead of this unspoken rule about driving over. If someone could explain the reasoning behind the hp limit i'd really appreciate it.

Get together MA/RI night torney.
is it going to be a friday night or sat? If it's a sat night i'm down. I work nights friday so wouldn't be able to make it. It'll be a drive for me coming from NH, but if there is a seat open on a boat i'll gladly make the trek. Any idea on a date? I'll have to pick up a one day license, which one is cheaper a one day for RI or one day for MA?

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
Check out this thread. It has pages about the carolina rig and best ways to fish it. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1120348381 Basically it's just a weight, bead, and swivel anywhere from 12 inches to 3 feet from your lure. I've been fishing it about 18 inches away since the water i'm in has been fairly dark. It allows you to fish deeper water and not have the weight connected directly to the bait like a t-rig. Mostly i throw it out as far as i can, let is sink and then sweep it back to me with long rod strokes. I've been fishing it off points and drop offs and in creek channels. I'm using a 3/4 to 1oz wieght on mine. The best part is that I can really feel the bottom and as it changes from weed to rock for example. If i catch a fish there i know to target that on other parts of the lake. I'm nowhere near an expert but really enjoy using it. I like the pre-rigged setups cause i'm lazy 8-) http://www.***.com/descpage-TBCRR.html I prefer black to brass though. Hope this helps -Chuck

Fishing pliers ?
i use the rapala pliers w/ the carbide cutter. I love these pliers. The never rust and work great, and have the split ring tip on the front which is helpful as well. Although I should say i loved these pliers. Just last week I was fishing with them in my pocket and the lanyard hanging out. Went to do a roll cast and caught the lanyard with the rod handle and flung my pliers right out of my pocket about 15 feet away. One thing is for sure, they definitely don't float. ;D Looks like the baitmonkey will be getting more of my money

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
Sounds like a nice place KlubbaT. I sent you a PM as well. Went out yesterday w/ my dad and had a pretty good day. 19 fish over all. All of them were average size. Mostly on senko's and lizards and a couple of crankbaits. I need to get more into crankbaiting. We got off the water right before the thunderstorm hit which was nice. Have to thank Baboosic again for giving me confidence in the carolina rig and lizards. It's become very productive for me in the last couple of weeks. Good luck on the water -Chuck

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
never been to Auburn Klubba.....is that little massebesic (sp?) in your photo? Got out in concord this morning. Caught 8 fish in 2 hours and a total of 4 different species. 4 Bass, a pickeral, a yellow perch, and i'm pretty sure a crappie. I'll post a pic of the crappie later. I caught it on my first ever bronzeye-frog bite. Had a couple of blowups as well. I had one fisht pick apart my yamamoto creature limb by limb. First one arm, then the other, then the skirt. It was pretty funny. Must have been one sneaky bluegill or something. Turned out to be a great morning before having to go to work all day. Hope everyone else is getting out and catching hawgs
