Palomar with a long tag end that I crimp the split shot to.
  2. I like the weight of the senko better.
  3. For me I usually work a T-rig through pads. That hit is usually a SLAM, definately feeling something wiggle at the end of the line. Occasionally its a change in weight feeling on the end of the line. My C-rigging is usually slowly dragging over gravel flats and tend to be more a feel of weight on the end of the line, occasionally feel the fish turn and run. Either way its an obvious feel and half the time the fish catches itself.
  4. If and when anyone recieves theirs, post up on how they are quality wise.
  5. Tides will play a big role in how you should fish. I am by no means in the know on tidal water SO I really cant enlighten you anymore than that.
  6. Wait... What? You tie onto the tail section with the line through the body? I am going to have to find that on you tube. That is just weird.
  7. If I may add to that great illustration. I tie my hook on with a palomar not, just make sure to leave an extra long tag end to whatever length you want the bait to be above the weight. Then for weights I LIGHTLY crush on split shot. I say lightly so that if it gets stuck in rocks I can pull them off the end of the line and not loose my hook and etc.
  8. I try to carry as little as possible and usually leave myself with a few packs of 1/0 and 4/0 wide gapped gammi hooks.
  9. 4 inch silver and black fluke. You can rip it fast across the top, slow on the bottom or anywhere in between, rigged weightless, with a jig head, t or c rigg It is almost limitless.
  10. Welcome to the boards. Half the places I fish are from shore only... and I still love it.
  11. I hooked myself a nice duck at the park one day... Wonder if a hunter had shot that one what they would have thought, not quite a banded bird BUT. ;D Other than that just the previously mentioned snapping turtles.
  12. is that a suspending bait? you could try suspend dots or florocarbon line with its sinking characteristic. Or find a sinking jerk bait. correct me if I am wrong but saltwater has more boyancy so would float a heavier bait easier... maybe a suspending saltwater bait would get you down there.
  13. Cultiva's and even some of the suspending bps jerks are working for me. I just cant get myself on the LC bandwagon.
  14. I use a generic quantum 6'6" light weight with 8# berkley floro.
  15. hmm would that color be pink? Shakey heads will get you bit on a slower bit when the fish are less active.
  16. How good of a place is that to fish, I live close by and would like a new haunt to try. PM me if you want, I just moved down to crofton from glen burnie.
  17. I was just checking another thread and got to thinking. Where are some good smallmouth spots in Maryland?
  18. shakey head rigs, spoons and spinners work great in rocky creeks and rivers.
  19. There is another thread on this same topic. The records are seperate because the fisheries are seperate.
  20. the closest thing to a spoon that I have caught a smallie with is the new berkley blade bait, I cant remember its actuall name. I sprayed it brown with spray paint and used plastic craws and jig trailers. Just kept it on the bottom and gave it the occasional real and pop.
  21. I kind of did that over the summer. I cannot remember what they are called. In the saltwater section at BPS they have a weight with a skirt already attached, I was using it ahead of a straigh forward rigged gycb
  22. I usually dont start fishing until a few weeks before the spawn, but I want to fish now. So I am looking for some advice. The small lake i usually fish is 8-10 feet deep, most of the structure is grass. With the water temps being around 40 what techniques should I try? I am in Maryland, anyone want to teach me a little something?
  23. Hi my names Brian... haha yea add me to that list.
  24. I have heard of the poComoke river being a very good place to fish, but have never fished it. It is on the lower eastern shore.
  25. If your asking how they technically work, you put one of the washers in where the screw on the plug goes at the butt of the rod.
