Recent mention in some posts here had me looking up Bagley's website and having a look at their products. I have some older Bagley DB3's et al and always liked the Bang O Lure so found their site and had a dig. Great site! Blown up views for all baits, 360 view is awesome! Really cool site. I'll be picking up a few of their cranks before next season as there are some that interest me. So, who among us are the Bagley fans? Your favorites are?
  2. Consider that I use Trilene XT, which is fairly stiff line and known for it's "memory". I have zero problems with 8lb XT on my 2500's. The time it's at it's worst is in cold temps. XT gets real stiff in colder temps. I have 1-2000 size and 1-1500 size that I use 6lb XT on. 8lb doesn't work that well on those 2 reels, the 2500 is the better and proper choice. The good thing about your choice of the 3000 is you can run a little heavier line if you ever decide you want to.
  3. I use XT. It's never given me a reason to change, plus the price is right. I have tried Sufix Siege too, and like it, but I just stick with XT.
  4. Yeah, that seems pretty slick for the shorebound angler!
  5. I fish waters that have pike in them every time I'm out. I have quite a bunch of spinning reels, most of which are 2500 size Daiwa Exceler's and spooled with 6 or 8lb line. They can handle any pike that swims even if the line can't. I also have a pair of 3000 size Daiwa Exceler's that I use with heavier line (10lb Trilene XT) for skipping docks and throwing senko's in dirty water. There is no question that the larger spool of the 3000 handles heavier line better, but a 2500 will handle 8lb very well. The 3000 has a spool capacity of 240 yds of 8lb, 200 yds of 10...that's a LOT of line. Way more than ANY pike is going to run away with!
  6. No mods for me! Yuck! Mod/fast or better!
  7. Not if it was a giant mouth full of razor sharp teeth....
  8. I think the most important thing in throwing jigs is knowing precisely where to put it. That may sound overly simple but too many guys don't understand how to find and interpret structure. When you can do that, fishing a jig is too easy.
  9. Just kidding! I've lost too many $16 LC Pointers to pike, and I get mad when that happens so I'm not going to spend $25 on a MB Vision 110, no way. I'd blow a gasket losing those. But, I will buy Luck E Strike RC STX instead.
  10. If using 8 lb line you certainly don't need the 3000 size.
  11. Whoa... how do you fish them wrong?
  12. Nope
  13. Hang in there Tommy! Take it easy and listen to your doc!
  14. About every 5 years I buy a left handed reel and give it a go. It's not which side the handle is on that bugs me, it's which hand my rod is in. I have a lefty Tatula CT right now that I was pitching with last summer. I'll use it again next year and see how it goes. So, this will be a first, never used the lefty 2 yrs in a row before.
  15. All I have left are my old Castaic's. Back in the day, loved them! They are still good for what they were designed, still like to use them a little bit. I keep thinking I'll get me a new one, but I always end up buying another Daiwa
  16. I had epoxy in one of the guide rings on an Avid and I scraped it out with an Exacto knife. Barely touched it and it flew right off.
  17. Same here, except I only put 10 yrs into the tourney scene. I do like to fish those brutally nice days post front though. That's about as far as I like to push it these days.
  18. Well, this is exactly why I don't have more than 2 right now. I don't often get that far down, but I'm going to add a couple options this off season and keep them handy from now on. I'm into a couple new lakes now that I think they may get used more.
  19. That's a nice man cave library! I'm still working on mine. My In Fisherman and Hannon's books need to be replaced. They are coming apart after all these years.
  20. I could agree with that! (bold) All the set force is not lost in a noodle tip. I think on those days when they really want you crackin' that bait, a firmer rod makes life easier. The biggest reason I have not even tried this rod with jerkbaits yet is because I prefer shorter. 6' is my norm, but I also use some 6'6" once in awhile too now.
  21. I have one. Really like it, very versatile rod in my opinion. I have not used mine for jerkbaits as I felt it was just a tad firm but I intend to try it next season for just what it was designed for. I really like the Winn grip on these rods and have plans to grab a couple more from this series yet. Great buy for $70!!
  22. But a Lew's would still be questionable... you're funny
  23. I have 1 DD Husky Jerk and 1 Smithwick Perfect 10. I think I'd probably be happy with those 2 but I have to see what others are popular.
  24. You need to get down 10 ft. What are you tying on?
