  1. I can dig it! Plus they're easy to wrap! I wish I'd get more of them instead of the crap I usually get, which I don't need or want. Cabela's and gas cards are right fine by me!
  2. You can do what you want. You cannot be arrested for using a wire leader so if you're more comfortable with it, tie it on!
  3. Mine will be here in tomorrow's mail. This was good, helpful info, just what I was hoping to hear about these baits! I was not able to find any locally to look at so tomorrow will be the first time I hold one.
  4. I use them both a lot. Like you, I'm a big Rapala fan.
  5. A-Jay, share your wire rigging method if you would please. Even if I don't use it again there might be somebody else watching this that might. The brand I have is different (and about 20 yrs old now) but same stuff.
  6. Ahh....Lots of good coming from this now! I have plenty of time to look at all these options and you can bet I will. Pick up 3 Yo Zuri's today. Have never fished these but they look good. Anyway....thank you all for your help.
  7. Well Scott, I sure wish you'd come up here and catch all these d**n gators so they wouldn't bite at my stuff. I have a spool of coated light wire under my bench. Don't care for it on jerkbaits. Anyway, I think I've found what I need for now.
  8. I gotta try, right? I've heard that Twitch Stik is pretty darn good. Lookin' forward to trying those. Found some others that are lookin' pretty good too. I'll be buying more Pointers just because I know what they are all about. Great action, cast like a rocket, quality finish. They are worth their cost but too spendy to feed the gators with. I knew this was coming... Won't be happier but it'll be cheaper. Thanks for the advice, but no.

I wear these... http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Snow-Runner-Winter-Boots/749510.uts?searchPath=%2Fbrowse.cmd%3FcategoryId%3D734095080%26CQ_search%3Dmens%2Bsnow%2Brunner%26CQ_st%3Db Light, warm and very comfortable boot. Highly recommend.
  10. Requirements: 4" (4 1/2" would be ok) 5/8 oz (or heavier) 2 hook ( not 3) suspending jerkbait I'm tired of losing $16 LC Pointers. Need cheaper alternatives to consider. Just ordered several Storm Twitch Stiks so I am aware of those. I know about the Salmo Sting also. Any others?
  11. I don't think I could feel right about digging through another guys boat at all and especially taking his waypoints??. Given this opportunity I would pass without hesitation. All in fun or not, I just couldn't and wouldn't do it.
  12. Do you have them at home? You could try the swap and find out.
  13. Hmmm...gotta love deductive logic.

Hmmm...I can get you guys into some thick reeds where you'll beg for a stiffer weedguard. That is 1 of 2 situations that I trim mine slightly. I sometimes trim skirt to affect fall rate too. Most times I don't do much to them. Add a craw and have at it. I use rubber banded skirts so I can change them up if I want without having to retie them. Gators can shred/ruin a skirt without scuffing your line so it's nice to be able to swap them out real quick.
  15. I'm sure it can be replaced. What would you prefer? Problem is, it will add to your cost.
  16. After linesides for 44 yrs now. Fishing for 51, started on the dock when I was 3.
  17. I don't mind the cold, and don't mind the snow but I hate when the snow comes with high winds. Throw the wind into the mix and things can get way more ugly. I actually like winter except when it's constant wind/snow and then it just gets on the nerves. 6 months of that can be hard to tolerate. Normal winters are ok by me. I don't mind a little heat but I hate high humidity with a passion. High temps are WAY more tolerable with low humidity. High temps and high humidity is the most uncomfortable environment I've known. I will take the extreme cold over that crap any day! I can dress for cold temps and remain comfortable.
  18. I catch fish on a variety of baits every year, but my most consistently productive are ALWAYS jigs and T-rig worms in all their variations. I fish a bit of everything, like everybody else, but these 2 baits bring more LM bass over the gunnel than all others combined. For smallies, I do best with tubes, shallow or deep and drop shot is a close 2nd.
  19. Same. Love it all but I'm a weak deep cranker.
  20. I think this one is a better reel and would choose over President. http://www.cabelas.com/product/fishing/fishing-reels/spinning-reels|/pc/104793480/c/104760180/sc/104837580/daiwa-rg-ab-spinning-reel/2373872.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fspinning-reels%2Fdaiwa%2F_%2FN-1102842%2B1000003177%2FNe-1000003177%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104837580%3FWTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU I've had several Pflueger's and prefer the Daiwa's.
  21. My Dad always used to say..."quit ****in' around and get 'im in the boat!" And so I've always done that as best I can. I especilly have no desire to play out fish coming from shallow heavy cover. Whack 'em and stack em, flip & skip...whatever. ASAP. Git'er done! Have yer pity party elsewhere
  22. I probably wouldn't have a problem using a glass rod for some techniques but I'd still choose graphite first for everything. I could probably get away with glass for spinnerbaits, maybe even jerkbaits and some deep cranking situations but I would not give up graphite on my shallow crankers, no way. I grew up at a time when glass rods were all there were and I full remember my first Lightning Rod experience and sensitivity was WAY improved over my glass rods. Huge difference.
  23. Wow! That's a monster perch! I've caught some nice jumbo's but nothing even close to18". Would have liked to see the colors on that one. Good job on the bass too!
