If you had 10 minutes?

Recommended Posts

If you were given 10 minutes alone in a top pro's boat. What would you want to find out?

You can dig through the hatches and everything.

The boat is on the trailer and ready to put in for a tournament.

The pro is not in the boat with you.

What he has rigged on each rod and try make a mental note on what is tied onto what.

His selection of plastic types and colors.

His selection of weights, mostly interested in the range weights he carries and what he has the most of.

His selection of hook types.

Waypoints

I would look for well used lures with teeth marks .

If it was KVD's Boat, I'm rooting around until I find his "Cookie" stash.

i would like to take a look at the rod and reel set ups, I struggle with matching these up correctly for different styles of fishing.

Yep - 10 minutes and an MMC card and I'm walking off happy. I'd double check his actual units settings if I have a couple extra minutes after downloading B)

I'm a little surprised.  I would have thought you'd be looking for the angler's list of Goals.

:P

Goals were 3rd on my list, right behind their ratio of salt vs non-salt plastics in their boats at No. 2, but I was afraid I couldn't accomplish either of those in just 10 minutes. :D

Compromising pictures or texts of him with someone other than his wife or girlfriend.

With that info, I could probably "persuade" him to take me out fishing with him a couple of times a month.  :)

I don't think I could feel right about digging through another guys boat at all and especially taking his waypoints??.  Given this opportunity I would pass without hesitation.  All in fun or not, I just couldn't and wouldn't do it.

Obviously I'd have to find out what the pro has his Hydrowave set to...we all know that's the most important factor in catching bass;)

I would write down the Hull ID number, and make sure I never buy that boat once the wrap comes off. Those guys beat the snot out of their boats.

Plus I'd probably loosen up some drags, and reel seat nuts...................because I'm kind of an a-hole.

I dont see much of gaining anything,.. without being able to talk with him. I wouldnt feel comfortable rifling thru his stuff, and, no matter what he has tied on, we all fish differently.  waypoints? what if they are just where he prefished and stink anyways?

Definitely the cookie stash.

And then I'd leave a note to say just how much I aspire to be as good a fisherman as they are and thank them for the role they played in helping me be a better angler.

Then I'd hold on to the steering wheel to see if I could perform the fisherman's version of the Vulcan Mind Meld that Spock used to use to learn what I haven't learned yet.

If ya can't have fun with this subject...lol

it would probably be disappointing.  Knowing that he is fishing with more or less the same stuff I am using, but could wax my a$$  on any day using the same stuff.  As far as waypoints I would want to see what he waypointed and why those spots were deserving of marking.  The reason he is a top pro in the first place is not because of the brand of tackle or the speed of his boat, but it is the knowledge and the instincts to find and catch fish  consistently.
