  1. If you are close to a Cabela's you best get down there and get one if they have any left. Website says "sold out"
  2. Any of you guys that have gram scales ever weighed these items? I'd like to know how much they weigh if anybody has this information.
  3. Yep, the good ol' Daiwa Death Screw. Proper size phillips screwdriver (#0) and file the tip down so it fits snug. If heat is needed heat the screwdriver tip and inert into screw head and let the heat transfer before turning. Just don't strip the head whatever you do. Be patient, it will come loose.
  4. hmmm...lets see if I can remember now. My biggest LM was caught on a old Bulldog 1/2 oz blk/blu jig w/Producto Crawdad in junebug/blue glitter claw. Didn't weigh and no pictures but pretty sure it wouldn't have hit the 5lb mark, probably 4 1/2. She come off jet ski lift on the side of a dock. I probably caught 5 or 6 others about same size but remember this one best for some reason. My biggest SM was caught on a Prowler 4" Big Butt tube in junebug. Again no pictures, didn't weigh it but I know she wasn't much over 4... if she hit that even. Hard bottom flat, inside weedline 5-6 ft of water. As usual, wasn't my year for big bites but had a lot of fun anyway!
  5. Yup..the .17 will mangle a squirrel for sure. Head shots result in no head! Truth is, a good pellet rifle will make the majority of squirrel shots but rimfires are more fun!
  6. Nice! I'd rather catch those than than all the d**n pike I get. 22lbs! wow, nice fish! My biggest drum might have gone 3lb. Never caught one chasing bass but I have caught them fishing carp/suckers in the river.
  7. $0.00 for me and wouldn't take if given. I had at least 4-5 of them for many years, no need to return to the past. Good reels for somebody else though.
  8. I like that I can dig through their vast product list to find just what I want. Gets expensive but just love their stuff!
  9. I've come to the conclusion I need 2 to be close to perfect. I've been getting by with a pair of St. Croix 6'6" Premier's, one M/F and one MH/F. I'm 90% +/- happy there.
  10. I cannot help and from my seat I'm glad of that. Nothing but good with my St. Croix's and Shimano's.
  11. I recommend the St. Croix Avid AVC62MXF, it is the right combination of length and perfect action for mer. Mine (I have 2) are dedicated to jerkbaits only. Obviously they could be used for other presentations but they are not. I have plenty of other rods for those things.
  12. Just about any M/F makes a respectable jerkbait rod. My choice for dedicated perfection is the Avid 6'2" M/XF as I prefer short. I have a couple of 6'6" M/F I use too. Prefer 6.3:1 gearing.

I like shorts because they seem to grab less weeds. I am almost always cranking near weeds and shorts just seem to come through a little bit better for me. Some change for heavier or lighter wire or better quality. Some have brand preference. I'm going to try these next season... http://www.rapala.com/vmc/hooks/treble/7545-spark-pointandreg-treble/7545+Spark+Point+Treble.html?cgid=vmc-hooks-treble#start=36&cgid=vmc-hooks-treble
  14. Them 5'6" pistol grips are sure fun!
  15. I see them for sale in the pet stores....
  16. I don't know that dropping them over the gunnel hurts them. They jump out of the water and slam themselves back down, especially smallies. I've had them jump smack into the side of my boat many times. Throwing fish is not cool though. I don't feel the need to slap them, throw them or crank on their jaw, regardless of size, but I'm guilty of dropping them back over the side of the boat. I have boat flipped them and failed to catch the line and they've landed on the carpet and I try not to do that. I use my rubber net on any with treble hook lures or bigger fish. I'm not innocent of poor handling but I do try to do a respectable job.
  17. Get in the habit of it with all of them, so when you do handle that 5 your technique remains correct in all your excitement. Why would anybody feel it necessary to crank on their jaw, small or not?
  18. Swindle has always seemed pretty straight up and squared away to me. The kind of guy who'll tell it like it is, for what it is. Good man!
  19. They never learn. Bill Dance has done it since the beginning of time and is the all time worst IMO. Heck they all do it. It is something that bothers me and I have made an effort to be conscious of this in my boat for many years now. I may not be perfect but I do try. Give 'em a little respect!
  20. Some "beds" you'll have no option but to fish the edge and as far into it as you can reach (punch) because they are so thick you ain't getting your boat through it. I've seen guys stuck in this stuff for hours.
  21. Good Lord....really? This would be something I'd put my own rod down to watch.
  22. Nobody here has one of these?
  23. What do you use your HD for? 6.3 or 7.3 ratio?
