  1. I fished mike's 3 weeks ago when the first warm weekend of the yr came along. We caught about 15 fish all shorts it only took 2 fish 4# to win. Mickey had 1 for like 3.5. My buddy said he caught all his fish on a jerkbait in the creeks last weekend. The water was 51* 3 weeks ago in spring creek. IDK what it was last weekend but im sure its somewhere close to that. It was 47-49* at fate sanders that weekend.
  2. Yeah my buddy finished 4th this past weekend with 1 fish 3.5#. He said Mickey was fishing way up in the river. Not sure whats he's been using but my guess would be he's got a shad rap on at least one rod. Haha
  3. There's also the Mike's Sat. morning tx at Fate Sanders on Priest. $25 a person 8a.m. - 2p.m. right now probably will change as the weather warms.
  4. you can always get a Bass Pro micro lite F-n-F rod for about $40.
  5. I use a 7' M St. Croix Premeir for my lipless. It casts them a mile and has a very soft tip I rarely lose a fish with it. I think its hard to beat at $100
  6. I think it would work just fine. I prefer a shorter rod myself, but i would think it would handle longer leaders better.
  7. I've never used either Dobyns or Powell but I saw that it was on sale and it looks like a good rod.
  8. Anyone used this rod it's on sale at TW for $125. I need a good deep cranking rod and was looking for some insight. I'm also looking at the Dobyns champion 804 cranking rod, and the 7'11 MH cumara. I'll probably match it up with curado E5 or Chronarch D5.
  9. I've got the 9'6" FnF rod. Great for the price! It's a blast catching a 4-5lb smallie on the fly rod. I recommend you get the weight system BPS makes for these rods it really improved the overall feel and comfort of my setup.
  10. Yeah, from the sound of it im gonna hold out for the mercury I really want. It's still early in the shopping season for me anyway. Thanks for all your input.
  11. I'm looking at buying a 2000 18' Javelin Renegade w/ a 2000 Evinrude ficht 150 on it. Just wondering what you guys think about these motors? I would really prefer a mercury but it's a pretty good deal if everything checks out with the motor. How fast do you think a boat like this will run also?
  12. I have the 6'8 M XF drop shot rod its great for shaky heads and tubes. It is rated for 1/8 -3/8 and I would not recommend you go over 3/8. It is very senitive and great for finesse fishing. I even throw small crankbaits on it too.

Cool let me know how it works for you.
  14. I was at Dick's tonight and they had a new crankbait I haven't seen before. It's called the crankin rap, they are plastic not balsa and have a loud rattle inside. They dive anywhere from 3 - 14 ft depending on the model. Has anyone used these yet? I didn't buy any because they didn't have any colors that interested me but I am curious. They were also cheaper than the rest of the rapala baits @ $5.99.
  15. Curado 200E7 or Core 50MG
  16. I've caught a lot of fish on their Japanese shad color this year. I still prefer the xcaliber lipless baits though.
  17. Where? I will buy every last one of them!
  18. Sounds like a good set up! I'm sure you will catch a bunch of fish with it. I too got a new combo today a Shimano Curado 200E7 and a G loomis BCFR 954 GLX Flippin stick w/ 65# Sufix braid.
  19. Great! Most of its use will come at Guntersville flippin grass mats but if its a frog bite I want to be able to use if for that too. I plan on putting a Curado 201 E7 on with 65# braid... I think it will be a sweet combo?
  20. Yeah I figured I should buy it at that price. Thats more than half off a basically brand new rod. And If I don't like it I'm sure I could rid of it and probably make some money on it too... LOL. My buddy said it is great for punching grass and c-rig but he didn't think it would a good frog rod. I will try it out though anyway.
  21. Has anyone used this rod? What does it excel at? I'm looking for a flippin stick and my buddy said he would sell this one to me for $225 it's in mint condition he's only used it a couple times. I need a rod I can flip with but also throw c-rigs and frogs. Can I do all 3 with this rod?
  22. Put them in the flea market here and you'll get rid of them. I plan on it if my friend decides not to buy them. I may have to keep the 200dpv since Shimano doesn't make a 201 E5 or any cranking reel for that matter!!!
  23. yeah thats what i thought i could get out of them. They are 9.5/10 mech and 9/10 cosm. They are great reels just a little big for my hands. I decided I'm going lefty now so I'm trying to get rid off all my reels. If anyone is interested in a straight trade I've got a core 100mg and a chronarch 50mg for a 101 and 51 let me know.
  24. I have two of these reels I am looking to get rid of them and replace them with the E series. Both are in great shape cleaned this spring by reelmechanic, they have ABEC 5 bearings and carbontex drag upgrades. How much should I ask for them? I have a friend that wants them but I don't want to rip him off or short myself either since I'm gonna have to buy 2 new reels. Any suggestions?
