BPS Rewards Preferred?
I got one in the mail too. It was only for 250 points though, I guess I didn't spend enough money this year. It's only redeemable in store though which sucks because my store in Nashville was destroyed by a flood.

Limp or Stiff Fluorocarbon Lines
I have used BPS, Trilene and Seagaur f/c. The BPS is good stuff. I like the trilene for anything under 8# anything over that and it is hard to manage and is very stiff. The seaguar is by far my favorite line and I have it on every rod that I need F/C for. The 15# is super limp and very managable it is also very strong.

shimano crucial 7ft mh casting rod
anything you want to do with it... it can be done! I use mine for throwing topwater you can throw a spook a mile and get a good hookset with that rod! I've used it for jigs too but its made its home as a topwater rod.

Which Shimano Reel is Better?
I have 2 spirex' they feel like I have a brick tide to my rods. I don't like the quickfire system because of the back play in the handle and it always smacks my fingers if I'm not paying attention when reeling. The double paddle handle should be left for casting reels it just adds unnecessary weight to the reels and serves no real purpose in my opinion. Save your money and get a sahara or sedona. Or save more money and get a stradic! I have 3 of them and they are worth every penny.

Reel Grips
I have them on 2 reels a core and a chronarch 50mg they are great on those reels. I had them on a curado 200d and hated them they were huge and uncomfortable. They are perfect for smaller reels IMO.

Did I get a good deal?
I took it for a test run yesterday in the creek near my house. I caught 2 small bass that I don't think I would have felt with my other spinning rods. I was very impressed with the rod the yo-zuri hybrid Ultra soft I was NOT! I broke it off 5 times it even snapped on a cast throwing a weightless trick worm! Maybe I got a bad spool but its being designated as backing now.

Flippin stick
I'm the market for a flippin stick. I want 7'6" one piece rod in the $150-$200 range. Does anyone have any suggestions. I saw used kistler helium on that other site for a good price but didn't pull the trigger I thought I should get some advice on them first. I want it to also double as heavy c-rig rod and swimbaits.

Braid/ flouro leader and line guides
Ok so I had a Core/carrot stix combo for jig fishing setup with 50# and a flouro leader. It was pretty good and I didn't really worry about the guides on the rod cause they were cheap anyway. I have since broken the carrot stix and stepped up to a Cumara. My question is.... Will the knot joining the braid and flouro damage the nice fuji guides on the cumara when casting and retrieving?

Oakley polarized sunglasses
Two words... Monster Dogs! $165. They are awesome but I got em for $90 with all my BPS reward points! It's like night and day difference between what I could see with and cheaper sunglasses.

Trigger X soft plastics
I picked up a pack of the jig trailers at wal-mart Friday night on my way to Kentucky Lake for $2...They would not stay up on the jig and kept sliding down the hook shank on the cast. Two thumbs down!

Crainkbaits
Bandits and Rapala DT are my favorite cranks. The bluegill color DT 10 is the best producing color in my box I have 2 in each size from DT 4 -16.

First trip of 2010
SKUNKED! I went to pre-fish a tournament at Dale Hollow today, the weather was beautiful... the fishing was awful! Put in at 6a.m. had one bite all day at the first stop on a shaky head. Fished the float and fly off and on but no takers. We tried everything from jigs to jerkbaits to spoons nothing worked. Crystal clear water bluebird skies and no wind makes that lake almost impossible, not to mention the below average water temps 38* in some areas. I don't feel bad though, there was a tournament blasting off this morning and they "weighed" in when we were leaving...no fish brought to the scales by 12 boats. :'( Oh well I can only hope for some clouds and rain next weekend.

dale hollow lake
Haven't been in a while I was supposed to go today but had to reschedule for next weekend. Try the Float and fly or Jigs on main lake points and pockets you'll find some fish.

VRBO
I used VRBO to rent a cabin in Spencer TN at Fall Creek Falls state park. I was very pleased. The rate was dirt cheap and the cabin was brand new, on a private rd, private waterfall access, fully furnished with dishtv and even a Wii. I would def. recommend using it.
