  1. Summer time is LEDGE fishin time on KY!!! Normally, that is. This year the lake level is down because of the lack of rain so they aren't generating as much as normal. This has the fish up on top of the ledges in the grass which has been growing well this year. At least the fish I have been catching anyway. You can find fish on ledges too but most of the fish I have caught were shallow in the grass on the main river. Crankbaits, swimbaits, football head jigs work great for ledge fishing. I've been throwing topwater over the grass, swimbaits through it, and flippin it with tx rigs. Hope this helps.
  2. I have 5 curados (D and E) 1 Chronarch 50mg and E, Core 100mg and 2 stradics. I expect them to last until they don't make parts for them anymore. I have them professionally cleaned and lubed each year and clean them myself throughout the year too. They are used heavily but they are in perfect condition. If you take care of them they will last forever. I also believe you get what you pay for...
  3. I am definitely the minority in my office. My boss likes to bass fish and I used to fish tournaments with another co worker but he was moved to our tampa office. Most of my co workers think I just sit on my boat all weekend, drink beer and wait for the bobber to go under. I've tried to explain to them but they don't understand.
  4. What does $100 get you from a sponsored friend who decides he's not fishing anymore? How about 12 Dirty jig swimjigs, 5 LC Pointers, 5 Sammy's, 5 spooks, 30 6" Basstrix paddletail swimbaits, 2 river2sea wa bully frogs, 3 Snag proof frogs, 2 spro dean rojas frogs and a plano box to take them home in. He said I could take more but I felt like I was ripping him off with what I already had. I might go shopping again next week....
  5. LC run right straight out of the box, SK usually don't at least the ones I've bought don't anyway. They are also 1/3 of the price of LC. I tune the cranks so they run straight, and change the hooks. They are good to go after that and catch a bunch of fish.
  6. I'd give $200 for it if was looking for a cheap trolling motor.
  7. I upgraded to a minn kota maxxum and want to sell my old minn kota 24v 70# All terrain. I'm not sure how old it is and I know its been discontinued, but it works fine. Any ideas? I figured I should be able to get at least $200 out of it?
  8. Yeah they are in there. You're best shot at good smallie is from the four corners marina area up to the dam.
  9. They are great baits and pretty cheap too, just replace the hooks before you go fishing.
  10. I don't own one but I'll tell you what a Evinrude dealer told me... If it hasnt blown yet it will! Some people love them and have never had a problem though. I went with a yamaha vmax. With that said it's a boat motor they all have problems at some point. If you like it, have a mechanic check it out first and enjoy.
  11. My 18' alum boat with a 150 yamaha weighs about 3000lb on the trailer with a full gas tank. I think you could tow the boat but I don't think you could stop it in an emergency.
  12. I punch with a G Loomis BCFR 954 GLX, Curado 200e7 and 65lb Sufix braid. I agree with everything MSolorio said. I like punchin skirts over jigs and straight shank worm hooks like Trokar or Owner. My favorite bait is a rage tail lobster with a dirty jigs punchin skirt.
  13. There are tournaments 7 days a week at percy priest and I know of at least 3 night tournaments through the week too.
  14. If I'm missing fish on a fluke I will take a piece of surgical or stopper from a trailer hook and add a small treble hook. Stick one treble in the fluke and go at it. It doesn't impede the action and will increase your hook ups.
  15. 12 in my boat, 4-5 in a friends boat.
  16. If you can throw a shad rap effectively on a casting rod you're doing some thing! I have 2 crucial crankbait rods (cork handle) and i love them, they are great crankin rods.
  17. Great reel, I prefer the 7.0:1 for those techniques, thats just me though and the rod will be just fine. Enjoy!
  18. Yeah I just bought a Chronarch 200e7, dobyns champion 735c, a spool of sufix braid and 10 Spro frogs... happy birthday to me!
  19. Hmm I've been looking for another dobyns and b-day present to myself... Very tempting!
  20. It does not have a bait clicker
  21. Throw a jig and fish at night.
  22. I have a Dobyns Champion 685 cb so I'm assuming its close the same action. I use it for traps, sqaure bills, and topwater. It's rated up 1.25 oz so it handles bigger baits really well. I've only had it for about a week but I really like it so far. It's stiff enough for good hooksets but soft enough not to rip the hooks out. If the savvy is anything like it you will love it. As for the 705 cant really speak for that one but I like the 7'0 cranking rods for medium cranks 8-12'. I use a Shimano crucial for those btw.
  23. 7'2 MH xf Shimano Cumara with a Shimano Core 100mg
  24. Shhhuuusshhhh!!!
  25. I've been fishing Dale Hollow the last 2 weekends and I've found no signs of the spawn yet either. I caught good solid fish both weekends none of them had bloody tails or looked skinny from dropping eggs. I think the full moon this week will get them going to the bed though.
