  1. Not enough.... once or twice a week
  2. I use swivels for poppers, but not for spooks or sammy's I think it takes away from the action.

My Father and I took a trip to Dale Hollow on Monday for a couple days. The fishing was tough during the day because night fishing is still the way to go for a few more weeks anyway. We made the best of it, since we just had a rental boat and couldn't take it out at night but we managed a few smallies. I got the first bite a nice 2.5-3lb smallie on a LC sammy, but he came unhooked at the boat. Thats pretty much the way day one went. My dad caught 3 or 4 small fish on a pop'n image, and I missed 3 more on the sammy. Day two started out alright Dad caught 1 or 2 on the popper and I caught a decent 1.5lb on a buzzbait. When the sun came up the fishing was dead. We went in for lunch and returned about 3 til dark only got one bite on a yamamoto DT grub on a football head jig. It was the best fish of the trip she went 3.75 on the digital scale. All in all it wasn't the best trip but we had a good time and we didn't get skunked. Here's the picture....
  7. I will give a full report on it next week after my trip to dale hollow

I'm thinking about doing some wacky jiggin for deep water smallies but I have a question or two? Can I use any old jig head for this application? What weight would you recommend for fishing 30' of water?
  9. X2 early spring throught the beginning of summer was my best time for the spinnerbait
  10. I've yet to try it but I currently have a stradic FI as my first choice. Thats tough to beat.
  11. I like Sufix seige on baitcasters and Elite on spinning. Lately, I have been partial to yo-zuri hybrid though.
  12. I picked up one of these yesterday on clearance @ Dick's for $49. I think I got a good deal, gonna use it as a back up anyway.
  13. I'm just saying I could tow it. I'm not saying I will. I don't need a bass boat that big Ias I usually go fishing by myself. I'm really looking into aluminum boats anyway... those G3 boats are awesome.
  14. Yes, it is possible to cast lighter lures with baitcasters it just takes some practice. If you are just starting out with a casting reel, I recommend practicing with heavier lures until you've trained your thumb. I think 3/8oz should be plenty of weight. As for the rod, since this will be your only baitcasting rig look for a medium power fast action rod with a lure rating around 1/4-3/4oz. This will be a good "all-purpose" setup.
  15. OK thanks, so I could tow a 19-20' glass boat if I needed to. But I should have brakes installed on the trailer.
  16. Well ok I will stay with the hybrid.
  17. Any one know the towing capacity for a ford ranger 2wd w/ 3.0 V6? I'm trying to figure out how big a boat I can tow with my truck. I can't decide if I should go aluminum or glass. I know glass is heavier so that would probably mean a smaller boat. Let me know what you think.
  18. RW, all I have is the purple hybrid right now, and I've got 3 -1/4 spools of it so I don't want to buy any more yo-zuri at the moment. I will be fishing around the dam and it is crystal clear there. I thought the purple was supposed to be the least visible or is that just in stained water?
  19. Both my PB LMB and SM came on the same 1/2 white Boo YAH DBL willow leaf spinnerbait. LMB 5lb 5 oz private pond 4/17/08 SM 4lb 7 oz Dale Hollow lake 5/17/08
  20. Will it be too stiff for a spinning reel. I don't want it to loop off the spool.
  21. I have been looking at using Flouro on my spinning reel for a trip to Dale Hollow this fall. I am currently using yo-zuri hybrid the purple color. Should I get the p-line flouro or maybe trilene 100% flouro. Which is more managable?
  22. I was happy til UCLA beat UT
