  1. I have the crucial crankbait model. It is a very good rod. you will be happy with it if you buy it.
  2. I've checked the loop I don't even know how many times. It looked fine everytime, then the blade falls off. I have even put replacement blades one and they have fallen off. I just don't get it. Thanks for the link basspaddler I will have to check into that.
  3. Hmm... I think I will write the company a letter and see what happens. Maybe I will end up with a few free baits.
  4. I also went to TTU
  5. How many of you use booyah spinnerbaits? I have been using them for the last year or so and I have caught my both my pb LMB and SM with them. But the last 5 I've bought have been defective or just poorly made, each of the 5 have had the blade fall off after about 25 casts. I can not figure out why, I've bent the loop that supposedly keeps the swivel and blade in place and it still comes off. Has anyone else had this problem? I used strike king and terminator spinnerbaits too, and have never had this happen.
  6. AHAHA! the black would look sweet on that carrot stix, and the red spool would be covered with line anyway....
  7. Then anything else that can be said matter not, if you like it then get it. Not neccessarily... If a few people say the chronarch is a better choice for less money, that maybe enough to change my mind. But the core would look sweet on a carrot stix.
  8. Thanks for the input fella's. The curado was only $120 and a friend offered me $100, so that is fine with me especially since I didnt even pay for it (Bday gift). I already have a curado 7.0:1 reel which I really love for just about anything. So I was really just thinking if I need two high speed reels. The lakes I primarily fish do not have any heavy cover to speak of, well nothing I really need the extra gear for, so I will go with the 100mg. I have a cardiff 200a (6.?:1) that I like for cranking and since I don't really do much deep cranking it is fine for me. RW - Hell Yeah that Core is gonna look really nice on that carrot stix!!!!
  9. I am looking into buying a Core to go with my carrot stix. Right now I have it paired with a curado 200dpv but I just don't like the way it feels. It's 5.0:1 is just to slow for me. The carrot stix is a 7'3 MH fast that I use for worms and jigs and flippin as well. Any way my question is do I need to spend the extra money for the 100mgfv (7.0:1) or can I get away with the 100mg 6.2:1? Also I'm trying to decide what to do with the curado, it is not even a month old, should I sell it or keep it for another purpose? What is a reel with a low gear ratio like that good for?
  10. Well there are some good spots around there. In Cookeville you can fish at cane creek park for largemouth. Center Hill lake is only 20 min from Cookeville. Also, Dale Hollow lake is only about 45 min north of there. I just got back from there today, I didn't get to fish much but I made the best of it with the two I caught, an 18" 3lb smallie, and a 20.5" 4.7 lb smallmouth.
  11. besides the color it doesn't look much different than my curado d's
  12. Sweet! Reel Mech, Can you give me an estimate if I sent you all three reels and had them installed as well as cleaned and lubed?
  13. Thanks for the heads up, I checked out smalljaw.com and they had some really good info.
  14. I have an almost brand new shimano cardiff 200A it's only about 5 months old and was wondering if there were any upgrades I could do to it? Smoother drag, maybe get rid of that loud noise it makes when I cast? Any suggestions? I also have 2 curado 200 (DPV, DHSV) that I was thinking the same thing about. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Websites, Books, anything?
  15. Have had one for 10 years now without any problems. But I upgraded to a stradic FI so I don't use it anymore. It is a good reel but you could a better reel for the same price.
  16. Ok well obviously none of the tn fisherman fish the best smallmouth lake in the state/country?
  17. It's awesome I use it for everything. Even if it isn't ultrasoft just spray it with some KVD L&L and it becomes just like it.
  18. Headed up there in about 2 weeks just wondering if anyone is having any luck? I will be staying at willow grove marina, and plan to fish around there.
  19. The original poster of this thread might be looking for something like PVC. I am not sure what I am looking for right now. I need something to protect my rods. I also need something to keep my rods from leaning against the garage wall? Any recommendations?
  20. Sounds like you got it figured out already. Fish very slowly since the water is still cold. I've found the jerkbait to be a good choice in cold water, but again fish very slow. Jerk it, then a long pause atleast five seconds, I've done 20 sec before its all about what the fish want. I also had a lot of luck this winter with rat-l-traps. You may want to try one with a lot of flash like chrome-blue back or black back.
  21. I like berkeley power worms but any brand will work. T-rig 'em drag 'em. jig 'em, or bounce 'em around cover. They will catch some fish.
  22. ok those look like a good investment, but how do you transport them from one place to another? Do you just throw them in the back of your truck?
  23. How do you guys protect your rods from scratches and cracks or broken guides when transporting from home to the lake. My little jon boat doesn't have a rod locker. I drive a Ford Ranger and I am worried about my rods getting broken now that I have moved up to better quality equipment (carrot stixs and st. croix). Right now my tailgate is broken and won't stay shut so I screwed some berkeley rod holders into my bedliner and it does a pretty good job. What else can I do or buy if need be, to ensure my rods stay in tip-top shape?
  24. I love my carrot stix/curado combo. I plan on using mine mostly for worms and jigs. I am thinking about selling my 2 st. croix and my shimano crucial crankbait rod and buying 3 more carrot stix. Just can't let the gf find out how much they are. I told her that setup only cost $100... if only she knew. LOL!
