  1. Most people will not have the skill nor the equipment to weld the thin aluminum found in 99.99% of boats! Aluminum welding is no where as easy as welding mild to strong steel or stainless steels. Aluminum will melt right before your eyes and you will not have a clue as to why it did that. Aluminum does not turn red/white with heat it just heats up to it reaches it melting point and then it just vanishes and you have a nice whole where you were hopeing a nice weld bead would be instead. Good Video though.
  2. Here's one at HD, not the correct size but you still might be able to work with it http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100021846 From the Look of this one your should be able to change the hoses on the inlet and outlet sides. Me thinks I need to pick up some of these for my project that I'll be starting soon
  3. Does your overflow have a pump or it just regulated by the water level in the live well. Post a Pic if you can!
  4. Check the prop repair shops in your area. Who knows you might find a great deal on one.
  5. I would go with Aluminum. Less motor to plane it out, Cost, and you can spend more time on the water fishing instead of worrying about every little scratch in your gel coat. Just my two or three cents
  6. bass or bass ? By chance do you know the model number of the Solar charger that you are using on your boat. I was at Harbor Freight last Saturday and looked at three different chargers. Stayncharge Not Doubting your data just keeping my options open!!
  7. Return your new motor and get you a replacement motor that wants to work. The bulb the guys are talking about is the one that in the middle of a fuel line that connect the outboard to the remote fuel pump. This bulb is used to prime the motor with fuel before starting. Your outboard has a built in tank their fore their will be no primer bulb. Unless it has one similar to a lawn mower engine that you depress to prime the motors carb.
  8. On a 24 foot Toon, First of all I think that I would want more than a 55# Minn Kota trolling motor with one battery. Maybe a second anchor? I have two anchors on all my boats (Odd?) On board charger for trolling motor battery ????? If the old portable one still works why waste upgrade money to replace it. Lets face it. On board or portable, they both do the same thing, recharge your battery. Spare tire??? The Boss just got a new bass rocket without a spare tire..
  9. I've never read anything good about these motors even still I'm trying to DIY one myself... Eska lower leg to B&S power head. Check you fuel lines and your linkage, and your carb adjustments Something is a mist their. Those motors are simple.
  10. 1968 Alumacraft FD (Not my ride but still a nice Tin Boat) First pic with a 40HP Mercury Same boat with 25hp Johnson Same boat with a 4hp Evinrude... I wish they still built them like this! Also I guess this just about answer how much motor for a 14 footer ;D
  11. I have a riveted Jon Boat that was made in 1965.. I am the second owner and to date it has no leaks or problems. And believe me, it has been through Hell and back and should leak like a sieve but still no leaks. Don't discard/look pass that boat just because it a riveted Jon Boat. If it's clean and all the paper work is good, and the price is right. I wouldn't let a good deal pass me by!!!

  21. Thsy make back support seat for some of the models of Kayaks
  22. That's why they put them parts in their. Besides you already paid for them might as well used them
  23. Save yourself from the headaches and get Selock Manual for your motor and then you may be able to determine if this is something you can handle, or want to handle, or pass off to a marine tech! Just my two cents...
  24. Are you looking at the 40#, 50# or the 70# thrust motor? or Maybe even higher.... Give the readers and ideal of what you are looking at and what type of boat you will be trying to move with it an maybe you will get more replies to your request. (Not being mean just a suggestion) I don't have a Minn Kota edge trolling motor nor do I see one in this poor man's future
  25. Does the Garmin 140 portable model offer temp and speed?
