Looks like I'm going to do it again.  The last time we went to Pickwick, I brought fifteen inches of rain with me.  The long range forecast for Pickwick is for rain on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  The Gods are against me!  I think I need to sacrifice a chicken or something.

I'll bring the chicken if you'll do a dance when you sacrifice it so Jeff or Gene can post a video. Of coarse we will grill said slain chicken maybe With a side of baked beans.

So I have not packed anything.  I took the boat out last weekend only to discover I had a trolling motor issue.  The local MG shop is closed for the week.  The next closest one is in Orlando.  My best friend warmer (vince) took it in for me on Monday.  They finally got it tested today and I need some OEM module and the nearest one is in Egypt or somewhere.  With overnight paid it should be here by Friday.  I'm working the weekend to get a contract back on schedule so I might get it Monday.  Throw it on the boat and leave on Tuesday morning.

I think you have to take it with a grain of salt.

I found the extended forecast on accuweather says it will be mostly cloudy on Wed the 1st, a little rain on Thursday the 2nd, clouds and sun Friday, mostly cloudy on Saturday and sunny to partly cloudy on Sunday .

Did you do something to the chicken, Mike?

NOAA (National Weather Service) is not calling for any severe weather. There is always a chance of showers this time of year. I am gonna go ahead and put the chicken in the jamabalya. :cooking-egg-31:

Thanks for the offer.  If I can't get it back, Vince has the same 36 volt motor as mine and is going to loan me his.  It will snap right in my bracket in 2 min.

I was a thinkin' it........but I weren't gonna say it. ;-)

bring the chicken just in case ............. I live 2 hours west of pickwick and its dicey IMO.... I will say the weatherman aint been right yet this spring over here. Also it is 1 weekout, even though it is a 60% thurs and Friday I have seen it completely taken off the forecast more times than I actually seen it rain as predicted 7-8 days out. It might be different this time because it does look to be associated with a small front.

but without fail, it is the first weekend in may and it always rains, LOL...I am not worried about it until Wednesday night next week.

Thanks for the update Brian.  I'll bring the chicken, if I can find him.  He's been pretty elusive for the last several years.

Will anyone be fishing the river for smallies?  If so, what do I need for shiners?

No, that pattern is over. I'm not saying you can't catch a smallmouth on

live bait, but the river bite is more of an October - March thing.

... the first weekend in may and it always rains...

Well, that has been true for 14 out of the 15 years I have lived here.

However, I think last year was the exception. Maybe we can go two in

a row!

Talked to Rhino yesterday, and he has a head start on us.  Got there just in time to fish, break a rod, and catch 6 fish in the first 40 mins when I had talked to him!  Should be an awesome trip!

Is that not because that is when they are normally running water.  I know it is unlike them to run water this deep into the spring, but they still are.........

Jeff

I haven't talked to Tom but I'm sure its a soft plastic .He doesn't believe in treble hooks

I am liking the sound of that Jeff! 6 fish in 40 minutes is a full day for me, LOL.

When I have fished with Tom he threw NOTHING but a 5" Senko wacky rigged.

  • Super User

He caught his first 6 on a Rage Menace.  He did say nothing big, but it was his first spot, and had only fished for 45 mins!!!!!

That or his little shaky worm.  Those two might be all he owns.  LOL
