Finally got my goal bass, I’ve been hunting this fish for years. Countless hours and heart breaks.  I started out waking up at 430 am, feeling like crap, mixture of expired cheese and a couple of be

New PB Alert!   Just got back from Wequaquet (air 80, water ~77). Overall, the fishing wasn't great with the water hot and bluebird skies overhead...and yet it all came down to one pitch and

@Saltysmalljaws and I did some pre-frontal damage yesterday before the rainstorm blanketed the upper-cape. Morale of the story: even in low 40dg water-temps, when the conditions line up right, these f

I am dying to go fishing I've been buying new lures every week I keep organizing everything. I've been buying new rods and reels once a month. My final purchase will be a kayak the second week of March when I get my bonus. I can't wait for this snow to melt it feels like it will never go away. YouTube videos are torture watching people catch fish is starting to drive me crazy.

Ok guys....it's just winter....it happens every year...I know that for a fact.....if you don't ice fish....and 2 hip operations say I don't ice fish, then all that's left is the bait monster or...........tackle maintenance.....cheaper and very worthwhile is replacing crankbait hooks and spinnerbait skirts and reel cleaning and lube.....not to mention practicing with that baitcaster that you got for Christmas. Tie on a bobber and chuck it on top of the snow in the back yard.  Fishing is great and prepared fishing is even better. If you're having trouble with your baitcaster or cleaning a real or replacing a rod tip then now's the time to ask and get it figured out. The northeast is without a doubt some of the best fishing in the world.....let's be ready for it. JMHO Grampa

Wow 3 hardgills, I'm jealous! You just gonna dead stick those straight tailed soft gills? Floaters I'm assuming? Slammers seem to whoop them in the northeast

It's almost March, which means open water is near.... It's all good.

Changed all my reels over to Lews this winter :) , have 2 of the LFS and a T/P and BB1 P, I think Lews is a great product for the money ....

I just posted under bass clubs ,looking to fish a little with a small local club or just with a few individuals (in small boats) to try out different places....If anyone's interested, let me know ............

There's a salt water expo in providence this weekend if anyone is interested, I think it's 10$ to get in.

Houghton's Pond & Blue Hills Reservoir are covered... Yeah, I'm getting the itch too. I'd have to say we've got another month before we see fresh water again.

While trying to keep the tackle monkey at bay (not working out this month....) I came across an announcement that Cabelas is opening a store in Berlin, MA on 26 March @ 10:00 AM.

Stay calm and take deep breaths.......

It's easy as pie. My daughter starts college in 3 years & I have enough rods & reels in the garage...... Mounted on the ceiling above my motorcycles.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Define "close".  Ten miles?  Twenty miles, or further?

How far are you from the Merrimack River?  The ramp in Lawrence is handy for launching.  Smallmouth, largemouth, and an occasional Northern Pike inhabit the river.

The ramp is in a pretty rough area, but I've never had a problem, and I've been there before daylight.  It's a nice cruise on the river and you can always find some calm places to fish, even on windy days.

10 - 20 miles. Can't help you at that distance, I'm south of Boston. MAFishfinder.com is a local website featuring a ton of local information, including maps & state location data.

Being in Billerica, you're close enough to S/NH. Here's another thread full of great info.

This was posted on MVBA and of course they didn't give away the location. But its in eastern ma. Its the smaller pond of the two.

Also the Merrimack is really starting to open up. Hopefully this weekend rain helps.

That's in MA? Awesome, the rains will certainly help. Great report.

I stopped by Whitman's Pond in Weymouth on the way home tonight. The only open water I saw was about 4' at the boat ramp, likely caused by plows when clearing the parking lot. The ice looked soft, but it was dark so I couldn't see very far out.

A coworker was ice fishing there last week and said folks were pulling up good pickerel.

Just a few more weeks...

OK, I'm starting to get really itchy.... It's getting warmer, the monkey bit me hard with a JDM Shimano and an *** Black.....  Hopefully just a couple more weeks!

I'm trying not to toss a kayak on the truck and going South for a week...  work & family obligations prevent it..

I will be heading over to Cabela's once it opens to check it out, will be nice not to have to drive 45 mins. to pick up some tackle at BassPro.  I work in Acton so I can see this being a quick lunchtime jaunt.
