What Do You Do When Your Hardbaits Get Like This?

Featured Replies

I have a pop r that has half the paint off and the base is like a bone color, should i scrape it off too make it all bone? No other popper in my box catches fish like this one. I really dont want to trash it.

If it's catching fish leave it as is.

I don't change what works

I love a bait with lots of battle scars. If someone sold a bait with what I call a "bite ring" pattern on the belly I'd buy them. Some of my favorite baits look like this:

If it ain't broke...you know the rest.

Like others have said, leave It be!

I just keep catchng fish with mine and they have a lot less finish than those pictured.

I have an old chrome/black Super Spot that looks like it got into a battle with a roll of concertina wire.....and lost. Paint is gone from the nose to the eyes, sides have tooth marks up the kazoo, along with various other scratches, nicks, etc. That lure still catches 'em, with or without a perfect paint job.

Change out the hooks when needed and keep fishing it. White or bone is a good color.

Here's a pointer 128 that keeps on ticking (catching)

The two lures at the bottom look like a Slender Pointer and a Pointer.

Injured bait fish are an easy catch. What looks more like its injured - that old battered lure, or the new shiney one just our of the box.

Keep chuckin it! Battle scars give the bait character!

The top one is a Lucky Craft Slender Pointer MR97, the bottom one is a Lucky Craft Pointer 78, both in American Shad color.
