New Year Resolutions...

Featured Replies

Well it's that time of year.  Everyone's making their new year resolutions.  At the end of each fishing year, I write down some "resolutions' in my fishing log on things I should work on.  For 2013, mine was setting aside a lot of time to work on my jig fishing.  I have always intended to do so, but always find myself fishing my cranks and senkos.  I was wondering if anyone else has any new year resolutions they are determined to work on in the new year.

To not spend so much money on rods and reels. I bought 15 or more set ups in last year. I've added to all my previous rods and reels. Now I have, I don't know, maybe close to 40 total.

Try some new to me techniques like drop shotting. Like the OP, I tend to favour Senkos and cranks.

Ignore the bait monkey and buy less lures. Honestly, I have enough.

Fish more.

Learn to catch fish with a jig.

For fishing- MORE PATIENCE!!

Well for everything!

I'd like to stop being such an a-hole............maybe just downgrade to a d-bag.

Fish a less and spend more time with my wife.  That said it's 3:15 am and I'm stepping out the door to go fishing.

Lose my gut. I was once pretty d**n fit. Now bending over to grab a bass is a challenge in its own. My belly is always in the way of bending down haha.

Fishing goal for 2013 is to break the NH state record. I'm coming for you, Momma!

Lose my gut. I was once pretty d**n fit.

Yeah me too..............but now it's the only thing I own outright so I think I'll keep it. :laugh5:

I guess I'm gonna keep spending money chasing the bait monkey and trying to get my boat setup the way I want.

My resoloution this year is...................that I will wait until next year to make a resolution. :respect-059:

Only a fat guy would know what a PITA this is ! I used to have to hold my breath, to tie my shoes ! (up until 3 years ago)

Two years ago, I was at the store trying on shoes, and I was so stoked to be able to do this and "breathe" at the same time, I think I tried on 10 pairs :) ... and bought two :)

So anyway, I've now lost about 120 lbs of fat (easy), and put on 40+ lbs of lean muscle (rediculously hard), in 38 months.

So here's my secret...... 1) Start out with a psychological issue called OCD, 2) get health and fitness lodged in your brain, 3) throw everything else in your life out the freaking window, and Bam ! Easy Peasy :)

Peace,

Fish

I hear you!  I am trying to lose over 80 pounds myself.  Fishing related goals include learning the drop shot and jig.  Need to devote some serious time to both this year.  I think it will give me an edge in my league.   :-)

New focus on a specific lure class:  Spinnerbaits for 2013

I threw out or gave away most of my old, but unused spinnerbaits,

I am only fishing the MegaStrike StrikeBack, Seibert Outdoors Cosmic

Spinnerbait and Ledgebuster. I have replaced all skirts with Lumaflex

Skirts.

1. Continue a close walk with Christ and continue to spread to word of God and his promise of new life.

2. Continue to evolve as a fisherman and become more well rounded and efficient.

3. Learn at least two new things every time every time I go fishing.

4. Obtain side scan imaging. Lol

Fishing related: Try and get out on the water more, and spend some days with only one technique trying to learn even more about these.

Non-fishing: Continue to work hard in school, and become closer with good friends and family members.
