Dwight's got a 9+ throwing a swim bait and Jeff's got a 10+ on a Huddleston.

Both fish came when the conditions were "tough".

I'm ready, willing and able to join this "Club" as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

Could be this trip.

I plan on spending some time with a Hudd 68 special and a tilapia hard gill.

You guys are going to slay the fish. They will all be post spawn, and easy to find. The fish have just recently moved up. Dwight's Hard Gill, and Jeff's jig, will catch some monsters, I promise you. The A-Rig is also catching a ton of slobs down there, and that is going to be fun! I predict, this will be your best trip yet, even though they will be spawned out. Have fun, break all your PB's, and stay safe, fellas.

Thank Shane ~

Hope your big fish prognostication is correct.

But I hope there is No A-Rig Bite - I hate that thing . . . .

There is, though, A-Jay. Big O is going to El Salto at the end of this month, and the guy he is bringing, is custom making A-rigs just for this trip. He's going to run Pearl Cutt'r Worms on it (cut to about 3/4 length).

We'll fish whatever works. And I guess the thought of 2 or 3 Grande bass all hooked on one rig is at least some what intriguing . . .

I have not swung a rod in friggin' forever.  I feel like I'll need to spend the first few hours targeting the dinks just to make sure I still know how to fish :)

If things go according to plan - you might not get much of a Warm up ~

I've been casting out in the back forty just to keep loose.

It's not the same.

What's the water clarity like down there?

The water routinely has a very nice, Big Bassy looking greenish hue ~

But from up in the lodge over looking the lake it often appear quite blue.

Clarity runs somewhere between 2 and perhaps 4 feet at best -

  • 2 weeks later...

How was the trip ?

Any news or photos to share ?

Hope all went well ?

  • Super User

I will have to join you boys on one of these trips.

It was a great trip!  Only half of us were brutally murdered by the drug cartel.  The rest of us survived the AK-47 fire and RPGs to catch some really awesome bass.  Uh, and the Margueritas weren't bad either.  I expect that 00Mod will fill you in on the details.  :eyebrows:
