Late last night, actually about 8:15pm CST, I was in bed almost asleep (4:30am call for a 6am launch this morning) when my iPad lit up with an email from Glenn May.  Glenn & Keri are original boar

If I make the weekend I will be chunking a big hammer for sure, and possibly a bullshad.

but by then, I am sure I will just throw what everybody says they are catching them on, LOL

Anyone going to be throwing swimbaits?  I'm thinking about bringing an Ultimate gill or two.

Kietech Swing Impact Fat, Shadalicious and Berkly Hollow Belly.

All smallmouth and every fish caught on the Hollow Belly:  http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_123/bass-pickwick-lake-3-11.html

i hope that bite is on..i plan on throwing a Power Team Swinging Hammer..if it is.

I want to catch a smallie over 5lbs.  That is my fishing goal of this trip!!!!

Five plus pounders do exist in those waters.  In fact, on my first Road Trip, which was to Pickwick, the two largest fish caught were smallmouth bass.  I caught a six pounder, only to be outdone by Old Cranky with a six and a half pounder.  Mine was on a shaky head, his was on a crankbait.

I'm gonna start out with some x raps.

I'm not so much interested in the lures as I am the places to fish.  Based on what I see from satellite imagery is that the lake is muddy for a few miles below the dam.  I'm sorely tempted to run west for about five miles before I attempt to wet a hook.  Any comments?

I haven't really fished a lot for the smallies. I just understand that the x raps are good to catch them. Gotta find them first. Like Mike L said, I'm bringing everything also. :)

I'm watching with interest everyone! I sure wish I were able to make this trip! I definitely miss hanging out with you all but I just have too many responsibilities here at home right now. I hope like heck you all go home with raw thumbs! Best of luck to all, and I WILL see you at a future Roadtrip!

Thanks. Sorry you can't make it this year.

how old is the image? is it real time?

TN river clears up pretty quick, so dirty one day might be clean the next, depending on how much current the TVA is pulling.... which right now, aint much.

Pretty sure the water is not muddied up right now. I am going in the morning to Wilson so I will give everyone a report.

From the looks of things, my list was on the skinny side.  I only planned on bringing five rods to fish with along with a half dozen 3700 series boxes and a bag with terminal stuff.  Might increase the gear and maybe add a combo to the mix now.  The only thing I know for sure I won't be bringing is my spinning gear.  My motto for this trip is: Go big, or go home empty handed.  If I can't cast it with my Daiwas, it doesn't get packed.

Dinky and I, along with a couple of buddies will be fishing Pickwick, and maybe Wilson the week before the Road Trip.  We'll be arriving at Pickwick Landing State Park on the 19th, then Dinky and I will be moving to Doublehead on the 27th.  For what it may be worth, we'll share whatever we may have learned at the Soiree.

You have my cell number.  If you are fishing before the soiree, call me before you arrive, and I'll fill you in.

Smallmouth should be on fire on the gravel banks across from Indian Creek. And behind the islands from Dry creek to the old boat ramp toward Al line. This time of year its unreal how many good browns come off those gravel points. Plus there covered with spawning benches that have been added over the years.

Pete

Our plans have changed, Will pull the meat off the smoker at home. Head that way its around 1.5 hours there. Arrive and get the meal ready, and visit. Then head back home or get a room in Florence if its late. AS Saturday we have a full day here at home.

Need to know where the meal will be? And the time it will start?

Pete, plan on serving at around 6:00.  We have a banquet room booked, but I don't yet know where it is located.  Give me a call when you get to the resort and I'll point you in the right direction.  Let me know if you need plates, cutlery, drinks, etc.

Edit: Gene beat me to it with the response.

Mike  -  I will have enough plastic utensils for all the meals. That is knives, forks & spoons. Just so you know.
