The cold front is just arriving here in Memphis. Our issue for the next four days is ice.

It is just raining right now, but our forcast is calling for up to 1/2" of ice mixed with snow

starting tonight.

Yall be careful up there. One nice thing about Alabama. Ice and snow are rare if ever.

That's part of the problem down there.

This type of stuff is not built into local budgets so snow/ice removal becomes a VERY big deal. I have friends and family that live in TN and while I like to joke with them that an inch of snow shuts everything down, it's actually pretty accurate. They just dont typically have to deal with it and such, money is not allocated for it.

6" of ice and snow is a typical drive to work.  Not even good enough excuse to be late for work, lol.

BTW, it's 60 and overcast today.  Feels like spring!

We are part of the same weather event.  Luckily for us, the freezing rain went about about 40 miles south of us.  We will have snow only.  It doesn't bring down tree branches.  Give me 6" of snow instead 1/4" of ice any day.

I suppose to leave for Fayetteville Sunday afternoon for corporate Christmas party.....its not looking promising.

Mondays low is 7 and Tuesday is 11......thats cold even for this fat bearded fellow!

good news it, it wont last long and afterwards the TN River should be rolling!

We have sleet and snow right now.  The News is saying 4-7" of snow/sleet mix.

Stay home.

The storm is hitting Richmond area on Sunday morning and we are going to decorate for Christmas.

We had some freezing rain during the morning rush, but it didn't last long. It's not doing anyrhing now but the sky looks like it could start coming down any second.

We got a small amount of ice Tuesday morning and we're expecting light snow off and on for the next few days. Right now, it's 16 degrees with a windchill of 5. They're forecasting lows around 5 degrees for the next couple of nights, with sub-zero windchill. Too durn cold for me!

Already ran into this in Ohio last week, no one was ready. I counted 26 cars mangled up on the side if the highway. People need to drive with caution

Grocery stores are out of EVERYTHING.

RW,

I'll never understand why when snow/ice flurries are forcasted for here, people rush to the store to stock up like they will be trapped in the house for a month. Its insane!

It is feeling like spring here in Alabama also. 70 degrees at 11 o clock at night. We don't get snow or bad ice but it is usually alot cooler by this time of year.

Cloudy and dry here, but brrrrr cold!  Mid teens at night, upper 20's by day.  Gonna last a few more days, then warm up to normal winter weather - low 40's and rain!

We got about an inch of snow last night, but they are really getting hammered south of us.

  • Super User

Just really wet here....so glad the white stuff and the hard water belong to other fishermen.

Got about 4" of snow today.  Luckily no freezing rain.  That went south of us.  Brrr, it's cold!  The temp never got above 22 today, and the forecast is for 2 degrees tonight.  That's OK though, we'll just hunker down, and turn up the thermostat.
