I'm looking for a shorter, floating worm than the Zoom TrickWorms I've been using on my shakey heads.  Something in the 4"-5" range for when I want to downsize both my jig and worm size.  Any recommendations? Seems most of the shorter, drop shot worms are all salted.  Not that I have anything against them for that presentation, I just like my shakey head plastic to float up from the jig when it's sitting.

Well if you like the Zoom trick worms, why don't you use the Zoom finesse worm, it's carbon copy of the trick worm only smaller. I don't know if they "float" or not, all I know is that I use them on shaky heads, and for drop shotting, and they flat out work.

Yea, that's what I've been doing.  I just like to add more stuff to my huge selection of soft plastics and finding a shorter worm would give the bait monkey another reason to pester me, so I'm doing his research for him.

Z Man Finesse Wormz come in 7" and 4" full floaters too!

I've been using this bait from Hags called the tornado I think. It's ribbed the whole length. They say that the bait is supposed to float. I use it on a t rig and it's been a great bait so far but don't really care if it floats or not.

Strike King Super Finesse worm 4". Its the ones made with the elaztech. They float and work pretty well for me.

Check out the Kicker Fish High Tail Hole Shot Shaky Worm.  It comes in a 4.75" and a 7" and has holes in the tail end of the worm that trap air and float it.  The worms are priced right and come with JJ Magic scent infused into the baits.  Other than that, I use Elaztech baits when I need a floating worm.

I get custom poured 5" Senko profile worms in a no salt floating formula and usually fish this on a 1/4 oz Picasso Shake E football jighead and it works very well. I feel that the bulkier profile of this shape catches a larger size fish on average than a trick worm type of profile. I refer to it as a Shaky Senko. This stands up at app a 60 degree angle on the bottom mimicking the look of a feeding baitfish though I'm not sure what the bass thinks it is.

They made the zman scented leech for the dropshot, I bet you could use that to shakey head also

Flirt is a great bait, but I have not found any that float.

elaztech worms by Strike king or Zman float well as does one of my older favorites the Giggy Stick by Gambler, don't ever use the blueberry muffin color..

I'm a huge fan of the Berkeley power shaky worm, just don't put it on a drop shot lol.

Despite ads to the contrary, most Zoom Trick worms and Zoom Finesse worms do not float,

oddly though, a few colors like 'key lime' tend to float. In any event, the most buoyant worms today

are made of Elaztech, which is also known as Cyberflexxx and 3X (note the three Xs in cyberflexxx).

On the downside, and the reason I stopped using them, 3x plastic is soft and jelly-like.

In heavy cover, the hook-point easily penetrates a T-rigged 3x worm, which I feel is a big No-No!

Roboworms and Brewer's Slider Worms are neutrally bouyant and made of tougher plastic.

The Gambler 7" Big Stick (large giggy stick) was one of our most productive bottom worms.

The worm head was made of tough plastic and the hollow-body was high-floating.

The tentacled tail offered bonus action similar to a tube lure.
