Rooster Tails

What weight rooster tail is the best for all around depth and what weights do you use for each depth

The only time I throw one is when I can see the fish busting on tiny schooling shiners. Usually the 1/4 size on a spinning rod.

1/4oz.

Take a look at Panther Martin or Mepps, they are much more durable and well worth the extra cost.  Goose's tip about bending the blade is the best tip I ever used about inline spinners.

1/4 oz. is the best for me.

I am not sure of the weight but I like the #3 and #4 Mepps.  I have a ML spinning reel set up I love to use for these.  Just flat out fun fishing.

I am a huge fan of inline spinners. I started out with the 1/4 sizes but now I am throwing bigger ones 1/2 and 5/8 ones because the large and little fish will still hit those sizes. I mainly use Panther Martin and the Blue Fox. The other day I just caught a 5lb snakehead on one.

I like the #3 Mepp's, however much they weigh, probably around a 1/4oz.

I never had any luck with rooster tails until I started using the 1/16 size.  I just cast it out and let it sink.

Do you use weights on rooster tails I’m new to fishing and don’t know what to use

Fourscore and five years ago....

Roostertails are sold in different weights.  They get bigger as you go up in weight.

I've always found that my Mepps lasted longer than the Roostertails I'd purchased...now I go with nothing but Mepps.

Rooster Tails have a habit where the blade doesn’t spin without a tug when you start reeling. I found the Rooster Tail Vibric to be a better more reliable lure. Theses days, I only use #4 Mepps, without the squirrel tails, for bass at least.

Check out Panther Martin also if your thinking inline spinner. They are much better quality than Rooster Tails
