What brand do you believe makes better spinning rods?

St Croix definitely...

They both kick ass!

I do however prefer Croix...tons of selections in many different blanks ti suit your needs

Cannot comment on Fenwick but St. Croix makes one great spinning rod.

Higher price point go st croix, lower price point go Fenwick.

I think it's hard to compare the the two. I'd take a legend extreme over almost any rod but for $120 I'd take the Elite tech smallmouth over most almost any rod, so I guess Fenwick wins the value battle but St Croix is the better high end rod

I have an old ugly beat to death Fenwick that I still use as my wacky rigged senko rod. Rod has served me for several years, and the previous owner (snagged it from a guy at work who was clearing out all of his stuff) had used it for several more before that.

 

It has been dropped, stepped on, bounced around, liberally shaken, bounced off the trolling motor accidentally when skipping - you name it. I know tons of people love St. Croix...but that Fenwick makes me want to try one of their newer models. 

used to be fenwick back in the days, now its st.croix. both still makes good rods. If fenwick move their production to the usa, and put life-time warranty, then both would be very close because the name fenwick is legendary. they used to make extremely good rods back then plus invented the first graphite rod ever and all other companies followed.

Fenwick has better offerings at the lower price points and their most expensive rod at TW is 179.99. This is where the St croix Avids price point starts at. I would not purchase a St Croix rod below the Avid line up.

St.Croix is, to me,  a better rod but Fenwick does make a good rod at a great price.

St. CROIX easily .... I've used both and always come back to st. CROIX.

Really love my Fenwick HMG and HMX spinning rods. I've never owned a St. Croix spinning rod (only casting), so I can't comment there. Either company makes quality products though. 

They both make good rods. I would also check out Temple Fork rods unless you are planning on spending $180 or more. If so, buy and Avid or a Legend.

Agree totally with these two. St croix cant compete with the fenwick smallie rod until you step up to the avid line...

Own a Fenwick Silver Hawk which I grabbed for I believe $60 at Cabelas. The blank is awesome however the parts are ehh ACS seat is loved by some. I can use it but not my favorite. However SC3 blanks and up are awesome too. It depends on what youre willing to spend.

A top of the line Legend Elite or Legend extreme isn't going to be beat by Fenwick and I'm a Fenwick guy, I love the feel and actions. I will say this for Fenwick, the Aetos will hold its own against a Legend Tournament, some may disagree but I have a friend that is a St. Croix fan and fishing both side by side, I'd say unless you are going to buy a Legend Elite, I'd go with Fenwick. I love my Fenwick rods and I have fished St. Croix and I will admit that Fenwick has nothing for the Elite or the Extreme but the Aetos is a lighter, stronger, and more sensitive rod than the Legend Tournament so with the exception of the two top tier rods from Croix, I'd take my Fenwick rods all day but that is my opinion.

Fenwick makes some great rods, their smallmouth rods are great, but St. Croix wins that battle hands down!

I have had both. Flip a coin. You'll get more bang for the buck with Fenwick, especially in the elite tech, and hmg, than you will with similarly priced St Croixs.

You posed a big general question, but, I'll answer with a couple of specifics.  I fish with two spinning outfits, one with a St Croix Legend Tournament 7 ft Medium/Fast, and the other a Fenwick Aetos 6ft 7in Medium Hvy/Fast.  I've only been fishing with the latter rod for several days now.  Both are very fine rods and are both backed by fine customer service.  It would be like having to choose between two of my children.

I owned both at one point, I sold off my St. Croix's.  An Aetos to me beats Croix hands down against a LTB and below.  I haven't fished an Extreme or Elite so I can't comment.  My two go to spinning rods, 7' Aetos M/F and Fenwick ET Smallmouth 6'9" M/XF. 

If you want the cheaper of the two Fenwick, if you want the best performance St Croix. I've always said the St Croix Avid is the best buy for the buck when it comes to fishing rods period, and still believe that today, if you want the very best rods available regardless of price, I would not trade one of my Legend Elites or Legend Extreme's for any rod made,,,,,,Period, I guess in my opinion that would mean you can't find a better rod at any price,,,,,,JMO    

Fenwick of the two. You couldn't pay me to fish a St. Croix.
