Probably 300 or so hard crankbaits.

My wife has the purse monkey baaaddd.... I mean the $300 kind.. Big enuff to pack for a week in Paris ..... But she will throw a fit on a $300 reel purchase.... A man can't win, first the bait monkey now the purse monkey.... Iam sick of monkeys..

More than I need or could ever possibly use, but not as many as I want.

I still don't see what's the "problem". I'm not in denial, I'm perfectly aware that I like to purchase tackle, the only real problem is having enough room to store it, dunno, maybe add another room to the house or something like that .......BIG room, for future purchases ya know.

 

Basement is full so the overflow has been going to the garage or dining room.

If it's too windy or stormy or not enough time to fish, you go buy lures. What's wrong with that. Besides it is cheaper than collecting guns, cars, motorcycles, aircraft, wives, mistresses, homes, etc...

One thing I learned, don't ever let her rattle ya.. Water off a ducks back... Yea, ok... I tryed to learn it....

I don't think the dining room is a good place for tackle, the garage is better, you can always park your vehicle on the driveway.

I don't keep much , I have a Plano over/under box and a double size binder for plastics.

I might use 20 percent of what I have on a fishing trip, and that's probably high.

I usually only buy new when I .....A. run out, B. lose, C. break any.

This is all I have and need and I've been bass fishing for over 30 years now.

I have too many lures

and yet I still have alot less than most of u!

30+ Large Plano and Falcon boxes full? 6 Cardboard boxes just for bags of plastics? They've all got a use some time, some place.

Get rid of the cardboard boxes and get some 66 quart plastic tubs at wallymart. Plastics weigh a lot once you get enough of them so the bottom will give on those boxes.

If storage wasn't an issue would have done it long ago!

I took my boat in one time because it didn't seem to want to come out of the hole and jump on plane like it use to. Well after the dealer messed with it for a couple of days trying new props and height settings he asked for my storage key to the middle front locker. And low and behold when he removed the 100 + lbs of plastic and lead, the problem went away. So now I try and keep it under 75 lbs. Dang Bait monkey

You need a bigger, meaner and more powerful outboard so you can carry your stuff, problem solved.

I have way more than I hope my wife ever finds out I own. 

 

I carry a few hundred hardbaits in the boat with me, then there's the 20 or so 3700 boxes full of "backups" in the garage and almost an entire wall of pegboards full of extra plastics, hooks, sinkers, line, and lures still in the boxes. 

I've been laughing hard reading this thread, hard enough a couple of times I had tears. I've been fishing for 50 years now and have collected lures for at least half that. About six, seven years ago I attempted to count my hard baits, most of them still in their original boxes, for insurance purposes and gave up at a thousand. When I pass, my family will have a lot of fun organizing an estate sale. Is lure collecting an addiction? You bet it is.

Simply put, If I looked at my lure collection logically I have WAY too much. But if I just look at it I have way too little!

Well now that I've read through I'll post because I no longer feel bad. I have boxes like Munkin, it is an entire closet that my wife gave me as we have 3 bedrooms, the 3rd bedroom is my man-cave where my rods and fishing stuff in general is stored. I won't guess as to how many hard baits or even plastics, I know that if I fished everyday and we on a good worm bite, without exaggerating, I could probably go for at a minimum 2 years before I'd have to buy worms and that is assuming I go through them at a normal pace. I'm happy that I'm not the only one that has a hording issue!!!!
