LC RC 1.5 is my all time favorite.

Mine as well and I have caught fish on it from March to November.

KVDs 1.5 when I want numbers and 2.5s for I want big bass. I usually fish 2.5s....

They are awesome and I have my best luck when I am "bumpin the stump " with my crankbait.

I use the 2.5s a lot when cranking shallow as well.  The 1.5s are fine but, in my opinion, they tend to draw a lot more small fish.

I've never used square bills, so I've got to ask: rattle, or no rattle?

It really depends, there is a place for both.

I agree, there's just something about a bomber

Mike

I picked up a couple of Bomber Square A's last night. They appear to run a bit shallower than the KVD 1.5 but I definitely will be trying them soon!

Get some of both. There's been times when the rattle is the key and then there are times where a silent crank is what the fish want.

Definitely.  Anywhere where the cover is too sparse to throw spinnerbaits or rock banks is primetime squarebill territory for me.  Been loving the Storm Arashi lately

I like a rattle in dirtier water and one without a rattle in clear or cold water.  Also a silent squarebill seems to produce better in pressured lakes as opposed to one with a rattle.

I'm with Mr. Kent on this one.

In south La we can throw squarebills pretty much year around.

Recieved my KVD 8.0s in the mail an will give them a try Sunday.  I will report the good and the bad monday.

They're big, really big. Been throwing mine on a light swimbait rod kind of big.

Threw it on a swimbait rod and felt good about the area.  No takers on the giant squarebill.  I did manage my best two bass of the year on other baits.  Killed a deer sat and caught hawgs on sunday.  Gotta love the fall.  I will put the giant sq bills up til Guntersville this feb.

Was throwing a Storm Arashi 5' this weekend and it was killing the spot we were fishing.  It took a beating through because of the pickerel in the area but that is par for the course when going after LMB I guess.

i started heavily fishing a 2.5 over rip rap banks horizontally late this summer and would go back over the same bank without rattle if the rattle didnt produce and usually when it didnt it just wasnt the day for it, i don't think that the difference between 1.5 or 2.5 plays a role in the size of the fish either i read that somewhere in the thread. i fish a small private lake often and it is absolutely covered in shad every one has complaint about the action late august early october 2.5 did for me through out that whole time though still working rip rap, shallow flats, and just chasing the shad.

When it comes to Fall Bass fishing I often turn to Crankbaits to put fish in the boat. Often times I find myself throwing a lipless crankbait, DT-6 or DT10 but a friend reminded me that Squarebill's can be deadly in the fall as well. The fishing was slow on this particular day but I was able to manage a 16" bass and a healthy 18" 3.5lb bass on a KVD 1.5.

Who else uses Squarebills in the Fall? If so, what brand do you prefer?
