In order to do that I just need to push the worm over the weedguard pin and then put the hook through the worm kinda like a Texas rig, right?

Sounds right to me! Here's an example I found on Google:

The Johnson Silver Minnow slides thru everything. Nice steady/slowish retrieve. Love fishing them thru pads, as long as the pads aren't too dense. When it bounces off a stalk, that's usually when the fish nail it.

Really looking forward to fishing it. Didn't get a chance to go yesterday, but supposed to be going Sunday.

As others have said, you can use a bunch of different trailers for it. Personally I like these. Keeps a slimmer profile (to get thru pads/weeds), yet the motion of the Minnow gives it a lot of action.

Haven't had one of those on the end of my line in decades. Caught a ton of pike in Canada with that lure.

Try some Len Thomson spoons. They are the best. I brought 5 to virgin waters in the Artic for a week and caught literally 100s every day of 42"+ Pike and Lakers on them. I brought home 3... 2 still in the box. My biggest was 50". Best week of fishing in my life. Not the cheapest though. I didn't even sharpen them once and ground the barb off as well to take it easier on the fish. 5 of Diamonds got the best action. I didnt know they can catch bass. I cant wait to break one out.

Finally decided to get me some Trokar hooks today. Picked up a pack of 3/O and 5/O Magworm EWGs. They're definitely proud of those things. They were a bit pricey, even with my discount...lol! ?

Gonna try some drop shotting next time I'm out. Picked up some Owner 2/O Mosquito Hooks, some 1/8oz and 1/4oz Green Gremlin steel drop shot sinkers. Also picked up some more 40lb Sufix 832 for my 6'10" MHF Lew's American Hero baitcaster that I plan on dedicating solely for topwater now. My spinning rod is now set up with 20lb Sufix 832 main line with about 4' of 10lb P Line copoly leader connected with a uni to uni knot 2/O Owner Mosquito Hook about a foot or so tag with an 1/8oz drop shot sinker. Possibly dedicating that rod to drop shots. Gotta get another spinning set up to dedicate to weightless Texas rigs, Ned rigs and wacky rigs. Just getting tired of rerigging the only spinning rig I have now. Will continue to rerig as long as I have to though. May be a while before I can get another spinning rig. ?

Where did you get those plastic treble hook covers?  I'd love to grab some!

You rock --- I need those since I hate it when my crank baits are tangled up.

Got bit really hard last month.  Rediscovered my love for jerkbait fishing so went searching for a new jerkbait rod.  Ended up finding a 2 for 1 deal on these Daiwa Zillions. A 6'6" MH-F will be my new jerkbait rod.  Hoping to use the 7'4" MH-R as my new jig rod.

Also needed a reel to go with the new jig rod.  Found ebay had a good deal going on the Revo ALX-HS, especially with the promo codes people post up around here.  So far I love the reel.  I don't think i'll notice the extra .5oz compared to an MGX.

Finally got lucky (no pun intended) with a local Ollies.  I had given up hope in the spring time after visiting 3 local stores.  Happened across a new one and got lucky.  Got the LC lures for $5.99 and the Arashis for $2.99.  I don't need any of these lures, but I figured at that price why not give them a shot!

The bait monkey is satisfied....for now

You can also get them on ebay via China.  They are almost unbelievably cheap, and usually take a couple weeks for shipping

Today I picked up a pair of Buff fishing gloves(light blue was the only color we had in my size and I'm tired of almost losing my rod out of my hand on hook sets), a pack of TroKar 4/O EWGs, a pack of Owner 1/O Mosquito hooks and a pack of Zoom watermelon red Tiny Flukes for drop shotting before I left work. Later on went to Bass Pro Shops and picked up a pair of Rapala fish grips, a bull frog Heddon Zara Spook and a pack of 4.5" green pumpkin BPS Wacky Stik-Os. Supposed to go fishing in the morning. Looking forward to trying them out. ?

This is where things get a bit sticky, as I don't think they're consistent seller to seller.  I typically am ordering a package of several different sizes, so I never sweat it too much.  In general i'd say size 3 for jerkbaits/small cranks.  2s will cover most cranks and 1s for DD cranks and other HD hooks

Went a little crazy this week. 2 Curado Ks, a Powell Endurance & Max 3D, Dobyns Fury, and a bunch of baits! Come on Thursday!
