Scam Alert

Recommended Posts

I just got a phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft. They said I had a virus on my computer and I needed to give them my personal information so they could remove the virus.

I told them I was going to call the cops and not to call again.

Unfortunately this is "common", and not just

Microsoft.

Microsoft is, in fact, suing over this very type

of scam.

I get calls from the NJ police depts. I tell them send me a written request.  Then hang up.

If God called me. I would tell him the same thing. Can not assume anything anymore.

Tell the caller that you'd be happy to provide any sensitive information he desires,

as soon as he connects you to "The Interview" on Microsoft Xbox  (meet nonsense with more nonsense)

Get that Microsoft call from time to time. Numerous attempts to get them to stop calling has failed. Annoying.

This problem will only be solved when the scam artists start bugging the Hollyweird types.

Look at all of the sudden outrage on hacking when Sony got the same treatment regular folks have been putting up with for years.

I get the "your computer is infected" call about once a month. The guy has an Indian accent. I always tell them I don't own a computer. That will get you a long pause :)

I don't view it as bad as most people. All they did is shut down the gaming servers. Compared the the Sony hack a few years ago. This is just a inconvenience.

Sometime when I have time,I will stretch them out and hold them on the phone as long as possible.

Other times I will lay out some of the most vile language and expressions that come to mind.

What ever you do ,don`t try to logic with them.

If you cooperate  and do what they say, your puter will lock up tight and you will be held financial hostage. You may or may not ever get it back to normal. That happened to a naive  friend of a friend

Usually I just hang up but the last time they called I decided to mess with them. He said his name was Mike "I think?" and said my computer was sending him error messages. When he ask my name I said Habeeb then ask if he knew the Slum Dog Millionaire? He hung up without fixing the error messages, Microsoft systems support needs to hire some better employees.

The easiest way to deal with these people is simply, to hang up,  But just before you "disconnect",  hover your phone over the toilet bowl, flush, then hang up.

I thought I should post a comment because I got calls like that, too. The latest was last week from this 425 phone number. Caller claimed their server monitored a virus in my computer and that he needed to gain remote access to fix it or else the virus would leak personal info saved on my computer to the cyberspace. Lol! As much as he was trying to scare into following his instructions, I knew better. I hung up. He just wasted a good 15 minutes of my time.
