Do You Have A Good Luck Charm Or Any Superstitions?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if there is something you ALWAYS bring, or something you do before a trip to help the bite.

Always bring my gear, life jacket and some water/coffee/snack items. I don't really believe in luck and I'm not superstitious at all.

I did get into a boat accident a while back. The guy I was fishing with brought a banana on board. 2 hours later we took a swim and had to be rescued. Still not superstitious though.

I hate to admit it, but I have a "lucky" pair of sneakers that I always wear.  They look disgusting.

My Austrailian outback hat! That hat is so awesome I wear it to bed too!

One superstition I have is that if I see a Bald Eagle I will stink it up the rest of the day.  I can not seem to catch a fish after i see one.  I love seeing Bald Ealges, but I try not to look into the air when someone says they are around.

Sure do, I try to wear the same green celtic cross shirt and camo shorts whenever I fish. I feel as if I get bigger fish when Im wearing them. Thus you can see the shirt to the left with my pb. I also have one rod that I left the plastic wrap on around the grip from the day I bought it, same reasoning. I know its crazy but its all about confidence, right?

A couple of my fishing buddies swear that I have a horse shoe some where that would not actually allow me to ever see it.

So I guess we'll never really know . . .

NO !

I do check weather forecast, tide info, wind and surf conditions then decide where I'm going and what I'm targeting.  If I don't like what I see I go freshwater fishing, which is what I've been doing the last few weeks.

I don't have any superstitions, but I have a check list I go down before each trip to make sure I didn't forget something.

I always try to bring my steelers hat, but its not because I think its lucky or something...

I am with Sir Snooks way of thought. I let conditions and seasons be my guide. Superstitions and lucky charms have never been my thing. But hey, if it works for you, so be it.

Im not superstitious at all but I hate catching a fish on the first cast. I did that once and didnt catch another fish .

I always get a drink and a bag of chips at the gas station.. Usually a Powerade and Honey BBQ Fritos. Just my thing I guess.

I have a shirt that I was wearing when I caught my two biggest bass and a pike in. I doubt it was the shirt, but I still like wearing it for fishing.

Always have my Chicago Bears camo hat with me.

If it's gonna be 90+ degrees which it usually is from May to September down here, I'll wear a wide brim but that Bear hat is allways with me.

I have to wear a hat. I always have a bad day if I forget a hat.

And I have to have my rain gear with me. If I forget it, it will rain, 100% guaranteed.

I have a blaze orange BPS hat that I was wearing when I caught my biggest LMB, SMB, and biggest northern. My dad also borrowed it and happened to shoot his biggest buck while wearing it too. I've still got it, it's pretty faded out but I don't wear it much anymore. Maybe it should make a reappearance in 2015 haha.

Nope, I just bring my gear.

Always have my Chicago Bears camo hat with me.

Heck yeah!!  I got a Chicago Bears camo hat last spring and I was wearing it for EVERY fish I caught!  If something happens to that hat I don't know what I'm gonna do......

I think a Bears hat would work just like a stinkbait, no?   :laugh5:   Just kidding haha

I'm not really a luck guy, but my only real tradition or procedure is to try to clear my mind when I get into my boat.  You know- Leave all of that stuff that was bothering me on the shore so to speak.  Sometimes my friend Bob Marley helps when I need a hand in doing so.  That's really my only must-do tradition though.

I Have a Lucky fishing hat.  I bought it several years ago.  When spring came around I couldn't find it. Then in the middle of winter I would come across it. Then in the spring not find it again. This went on until I moved to this house on the pond.

I found the hat when we moved in and I have worn it for every fish I have caught since.   My dog even knows when I put the hat on...get on the boat!

Lucky??? Nope... Blessed??? Absolutely... I always say a prayer for safety, and thank God for the opportunity to be out in nature, enjoying his beautiful creation... I also try to keep swearing to a minimum(not easy for a sailor), it seems the bite shuts off at about the first efinheimer...

While I'm not superstitious, I do believe in Murphy's Law.

Couldn't help but think of this when I read your post.
